Confessional Thread

Just a little thing I thought about doing, was thinking if other people have had thoughts like this, this would be another place to share them!
1My Chemical Romance
The Black Parade

The more time goes on, the less I feel inclined to try to define myself by any one musical subculture. I've always had love for the emo scene, but I find it too limiting to just call myself a fan of one culture. There's a whole world of music out there that I've yet to experience. No need to put yourself in a box as I've done in the past.
2Counting Crows
August And Everything After

I've been finding myself listening to a hell of a lot more 90's alt and other forms of music from that decade more often than I used to. That whole sound just kind of resonates more the more time goes on, and I feel like it's seeping into my own writing as well; I unintentionally wrote a melody that sounded like the piano parts for "Black" by Pearl Jam a while back.
3Kendrick Lamar
GNX

I've been enjoying more and more hip-hop lately, the more time passes. Yes, I did used to be one of those obnoxious people that only wanted lyrical rap, but often those guys are just as vapid and ridiculous as the "mumblers" they criticize. 1990s rap has been a lot easier of a way in for me, specifically east coast style with a few west coast rappers mixed in. The beats of say, Tribe, are some of the best in the game that I have heard, and I'd love to get deeper in but it's been hard to motivate myself to hear much new stuff lately.
4The Juliana Theory
Emotion is Dead

It's probably the case that I've listened to way too much new music in a short time, because it's been a while since I've felt this... unadventurous. I feel like I want to crawl back into a hole and just listen to stuff I've heard for 10+ years to comfort me at times. I love new music, I don't want to be that person that only listens to what I know, but I feel like I've overdone it and I'm feeling some sort of burnout.
