| 2023 and 2024 Concerts
For the last two years - have been exclusively either attending shows or volunteering at shows at our nearby Amphitheater. Should've been doing this for many years in the past. But have attended some great shows, as follows. | | 1 | | Gojira Fortitude
May 6, 2023. Saw this show from the seats. Lorna Shore opened, Gojira played second, and Mastodon was the closer. Gojira stole the show with their technical prowess and superior visuals. Unfortunately, Mastodon's sound was overly distorted and muddled, and Brett Hinds vocals were off. | | 2 | | Jinjer Wallflowers
August 1, 2023. Worked this show, selling concessions - from a stand looking directly down from the top of the lawn to the stage. Jinjer opened, Breaking Benjamin played second, and Disturbed closed. Jinjer was great - shocking the majority of the attendants with her deep, harsh vocals. Breaking Benjamin was good, but too mainstream for me - lots of folks were there for them. Disturbed was pretty great - with an awesome set and backdrop. | | 3 | | Pantera Official Live: 101 Proof
September 12, 2023. Don't remember who opened. Lamb of God played second and Pantera closed. Similar to the above, I worked this show selling concessions from the top of the lawn. Lamb of God played a strong set, but Randy's non-changing vocals got a bit old. Pantera played a punishing set, and Zakk Wylde was great on guitar - but the absence of the Abbott Brothers was tough. | | 4 | | Avenged Sevenfold Life Is But a Dream...
September 20, 2023. Was signed up to work this concert, and it was decided to close the lawn. So ended up not seeing this show - and regret that to today. | | 5 | | A Perfect Circle/Primus/Puscifer Sessanta E.P.P.P.
April 9, 2024. Saw this show from the seats. A great show where no opener or closer, just APC, Puscifer, and Primus intermixing their songs and sets. | | 6 | | Judas Priest Invincible Shield
May 11, 2004. Worked this concert off the side of the stage. Wasn't able to see Sabaton, but was let go fairly early. Caught several songs off Judas Priest's set - and amazing how well Rob Halford could still sing and hit the high notes. | | 7 | | Mastodon Leviathan
July 25, 2024. Worked this concert off the side of the stage, selling concessions. Was working inside a building - so only heard a bit of the concert, but didn't see much. But from what I did hear - both Lamb of God and Mastodon performed great renditions of the Ashes of the Wake and Leviathan albums, respectively, in their whole. | | 8 | | I Prevail TRUE POWER
July 31, 2024. Worked this concert at the top of the lawn, selling concessions. These bands were something to see. Fit for a King opened, Hollywood Undead was next, Halestorm played third, and I Prevail closed. Each of the bands sounded great, but I Prevail stole the show with their True Power heavy set and their stage show. Loved this show - went out and bought True Power shortly thereafter. | | 9 | | Bret Michaels Jammin' with Friends
August 3, 2024. Worked the Pardi-Gras 2.0 concert off the side of the stage, selling concessions. Didn't see much of it, only heard. Hearing Don Felder play Hotel California was pretty cool. As well as hearing Dee Snider performing some of his classics. Used to love some Poison, but those songs don't much for me anymore. | | 10 | | Limp Bizkit Still Sucks
August 4, 2024. Similarly worked Loserville off the side of the stage. Busy show - so didn't hear much of the openers. But Limp Bizkit was on fire. After enjoying hearing their show, had to go purchase Still Sucks. | | 11 | | Stone Temple Pilots Purple
August 31, 2024. Worked this concert at the top of the lawn, selling concessions. Soul Asylum opened and was good - but same as in the past, were missing that extra punch to make them great. STP came on next - and was the highlight of the show - performing the album Purple and some additional songs in their entirety. Live was the closer - and probably should have stayed in the 1990's. Their songs, although once popular, were just too generic and mainstream now to garner much excitement. | | 12 | | Falling in Reverse Popular Monster
September 1, 2024. Worked the concert off the side of the stage, selling concessions. Could hear very well. Black Veil Brides were great, but their set was too short. And then Dance Gavin Dance came up after BVB, which was a total buzz kill. But the closer, Falling in Reverse, was great. Ronnie Radke and crew played a diverse set - and ended the set playing tracks off of Popular Monster. Closed with "Ronald", which was great. | | 13 | | ZZ Top Greatest Hits
September 5, 2024. Worked this concert at the top of the lawn, prepping food. Couldn't see a lot of the concert - but the sound was incredible where I was. The Outlaws opened, and were OK southern rock. ZZ Top played second - and played a laid back set - only really opening up into their classics at the end of the show. Lynyrd Skynyrd closed - by now, a glorified cover band with no original members. And it sounded like that. | | 14 | | Rob Zombie Past, Present & Future
September 12, 2024. Was sitting in the seats for this one. Filter opened the show to a smaller crowd, playing a set heavy on tracks from the late 1990's and early 2000's. Ministry came next - with a blistering set - 3 track from Hopiumforthemasses - and the remaining tracks from the Land of Rape and Honey, TMIATTTT, and Psalm 69. When playing "Goddamn White Trash", you could cut the tension in the air with a knife. Alice Cooper played third - and for a 70's band, did pretty well - Nita Strauss' guitar playing was a highlight of their show. Rob Zombie closed the night with a brief, but poignant set. And his stage show was awesome. | | 15 | | My Morning Jacket It Still Moves
September 14, 2024. Worked at the top of the lawn, selling concessions. Nathaniel Ratelif opened, with a 1.5 hr set. My Morning Jancket closed with a rocking set. Neither were exactly my cup of tea; but enjoyable. | | 16 | | Korn Korn
September 16, 2024. Sat in the middle of the seats, in the very back. Spiritbox opened and played a punchy 30-minute set, including more of their recent and heavier tracks. Closed with Holly Roller - one of my favs. Gojira came on next - and once again (similar to last year) stole the show with their ultra technical metal. Their opening tracks were bludgeoning, gradually leading to more progressive tracks in the middle and familiar Fortitude tracks in the end. Korn did not disappoint - playing primarily off of their earlier albums. Celebrating their 30th year; Korn played a blistering four-song set of Blind, Ball Tongue, Clown, and Shoots&Ladders, chasing it with Metallica's One and Twist. A highlight of the night for me. | |
