09.03.24 | When will the Rolling Stones do a Some Girls anniversary tour? | AlexKzillion
09.03.24 | i def think its audience stagnation
isn't there a study that found like 99% of people's taste in music completely stagnates after reaching like 25yo? a lot of people just reach a point in their lives where they just don't really care too much for new music even from artists they really like.
...and for that reason these full-album tours probably do way better than just a normal tour in a landscape where concerts are more expensive than ever for the fans and touring as a business practice is as unprofitable as ever for the artists.
all roads lead back to ticketmaster being an atrocity as always
i doubt most of these tours would be happening in a world where covid didn't happen. most artists historically kinda hate going backwards and fight like hell to fend off becoming a nostalgia act as long as possible... but its obvious its the best move financially right now. | vult
09.03.24 | I see reunion tours as a reward for long term fans and allowing them to hear deep cuts that haven’t been played live in ages or ever. But yeah stagnation and financial security are certainly huge factors.
Saw Silverstein’s 10yr anniversary of DtW back in 2015 and that shit was so good. Especially since they also played a bunch of newer material too. | jrlikestodance
09.03.24 | Agree with both Alex and Vult here. Just saw Lamb of God and Mastodon do the Ashes of Leviathan tour and while it was great seeing both bands play my favorite records of theirs, idk if I would rush to see them again as I'm not crazy on either of their new stuff. That being said, I lean more towards these tours being a reward to the fans. The artists understand the fans got them there and like vult said a lot of these tracks are seeing the light of day for the first time. |
