Saturate
This one lands too far into the post-grunge / pop-punk territory for me. The songwriting and guitar riffs feel like a more distorted take on Third Eye Blind or something. Vocals aren’t that great either. 5/10 | | 5 | | Breaking Benjamin
Dear Agony
Have never been crazy about this one, probably the one i’ve listened to the least. It’s good, but it doesn’t live up to what the 2 albums before it did. A bit uninspired in some areas. 5.5/10 | | 4 | | Breaking Benjamin
Phobia
So many stand out tracks here, and the album that defined the band with its singles. Not crazy about some of the cuts on here, but it’s a solid rock album. 7/10 | | 3 | | Breaking Benjamin
Dark Before Dawn
A great blend of everything they’ve done, with more focus on the melodic bits, it feels like a more mature Phobia, and i think the consensus on this one is criminal. 8/10 | | 2 | | Breaking Benjamin
We Are Not Alone
A classic, not a weak track here. It’s impressive how tight and distinctive this sounds so early in their career, especially after the shoddy debut. 9/10 | | 1 | | Breaking Benjamin
Ember
Weird to me how underrated this one is. The band leans into the heavier elements of their sound, with a more modern, djent take on their sound, while maintaining the infectious and soaring melodic bits. Easily their best record for me. 9/10
Psycho is their best song | |
Brabiz
08.15.24 | Surprised by how much this band holds up. Loved them in middle school, but it’s impressive how crafted and distinctive their sound is. Consistently catchy and well-rounded. | SteakByrnes
08.15.24 | one of the weirdest rankings for this band I've ever seen lol
4 > 5 > 2 and then the rest I don't care about | Christbait
08.15.24 | 4 > 5 > 2 and then the rest I don't care about [2] | Purpl3Spartan
08.15.24 | (3) | Brabiz
08.15.24 | Further proof that 1 is just super under appreciated | Eakflanderyof
08.15.24 | I'm with you on 1 being underrated. Red cold river, tourniquet, and psycho are all bangers. I still wouldn't put ember above 2, 4, or 5 though | 0xME
08.15.24 | 4 > 5 > 2 = 3 > 1 > 6
I quite enjoy their post break stuff too, but I wasn't too convinced by Ember. Still a solid record, just not quite on the same level as their previous records except for Saturate which I agree kind of sucks. Maybe I do need to give Ember another spin, see how it holds up | Christbait
08.15.24 | Brabiz, what movie is your pfp from by the way? | Ladron93
08.15.24 | Phobia is the only BB album that I rarely go back to listen to it back in 2006. xP | arthropod
08.16.24 | 4 = 3 - great
2 = 6 - good
1 - bearable
5 - failure | idiotican
08.16.24 | saturate at the bottom? Bro.... You're acting like it's a bad thing to compare it with Third Eye Blind | Brabiz
08.16.24 | I think the TEB comparison is a bad thing. Feels less distinct, and the riffs feel like they don’t fit BB’s style all too much. I like TEB a lot, but that vibe is not at all what I want from this band. My friend described it as Sum-41 sounding, and I haven’t been able to unhear it.
My pfp is from City of The Living Dead. Best Lucio Fulci movie. |
