| Sony surgery
damn really having a bad string of luck this past month with my stuffs... | | 1 | | Scientist (JAM) Scientific Dub
so this time it be my ol' Sony stereo receiver from the 70s... | | 2 | | Prurient Destroyed Electricity
fucking power switch... | | 3 | | The Black Dog Music for Real Airports
the fucking tiny plastic box that's mounted inside which the power switch goes into and houses the whole mechanism/contraption that makes the power switch you know... switch the power on and off... well that shit broke | | 4 | | Carbon Based Lifeforms Seeker
surgery is complete... unplugged, unhooked, moved all my shit, disassembled that pupper, had a looksie inside, made an assessment of the problem, dropped a tiny piece that fell and went down INSIDE my PS3 which was a whole extra pain in the ass to get out (hopefully the PS3 is okay lol...) figured out how the power contraption worked and how to reassemble it correctly, and then carefully jerry-rigged it all back together with some small glue application... (with power switch in the ON position) | | 5 | | Swans Love of Life
put her back together, we back, pupper is bumpin' | | 6 | | Buckethead Albino Slug
only problem now is that based on what I did and knowing now how the power switch operates, I'm pretty sure flipping the power switch at all will most likely cause the inner part to break again, afraid to even give it a single try | | 7 | | The Stranglers Black And White
probably just gonna leave it permanently in the ON position now and just turn it on and off by actually plugging and unplugging the power plug in the outlet | | 8 | | The Fall Dragnet
hopefully that won't hurt the poor pupper | | 9 | | Protomartyr Under Color of Official Right
pray for my pupper | | 10 | | Emeralds Does It Look Like I'm Here?
list is uh... more stuff I had to reacquire since HDD failure a couple weeks back | | 11 | | Buckethead Population Override | | 12 | | Merzbow Tauromachine | | 13 | | fen Monuments to Absence | | 14 | | Anthrax Among the Living
stayin' among the living, stayin' out the junkyard | | 15 | | Peter Gabriel Melt
plz no melty | | 16 | | Aphex Twin Blackbox Life Recorder 21f / In A Room7 F760 | | 17 | | Sleaford Mods S.P.E.C.T.R.E. | | 18 | | Cory Hanson Western Cum | | 19 | | Moor Mother Jazz Codes | | 20 | | Crosses Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. | | 21 | | Infinity Frequencies Computer Afterlife

08.01.24 | I guess on the bright side, now that I've done it once, if and when I have to go back in there and address this again, I'll know exactly what I'm in for and what to expect... just wish I could come up with a more permanent solution as opposed to my ghetto homemade temp. solution... don't really want to be repeatedly opening my receiver up for surgery if I don't have to since it kind of just opens doors for more things to go wrong or get messed up
not sure it's gonna yield much result but guess I should try googling it... feel like I'll most likely just be directed to find an expert/professional to service or repair it, and off the top of my head I don't know of anyone nearby who works on vintage stereo receivers and if I do find anybody well for starters I'm sure they'll be charging a shit load of money I don't have | artiswar
08.01.24 | "made an assessment of the problem, dropped a tiny piece that fell and went down INSIDE my PS3 which was a whole extra pain in the ass to get out (hopefully the PS3 is okay lol...)"
bro... wtf lol. Am praying for the pupper AND the PS3 | artiswar
08.01.24 | also 20 is fucking amazing and I was disappointed by the lack of love it received on this site | Sharenge
08.01.24 | thanks actually just found a nice video of someone working on the STR-7055 with basically the same exact issue as well, so that may prove useful - linking for future reference
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhdnF2R2TRk
going in solely from the top made things particularly more difficult and limiting, so next time I go in, guess I'll try at least one further disassembly step and remove the bottom panel as well like this guy did... maybe the face too... really don't wanna have to remove the face but I guess it's an option if necessary
lol as for my Playstation, probs will hook it back up and boot it before I hit the hay here in the next few hours just to make sure it's all good... should be fine but I gotta know | Sharenge
08.01.24 | was a little more hype about the EP †††s dropped like a year back or however long it's been now than I was for Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. but then again I jammed that one a lot and this one only a couple of times thus far not enough to judge yet
(lol okay I guess it was like two years ago and Goodnight been out going on a year now jfc that time do be flyin') | Sharenge
08.02.24 | never used the stuff before, but sounds like an epoxy might be my best bet for trying to glue the plastic back together in a manner that is actually going to last and be able to hold up and withstand the little bit of force/pressure that gets applied when the power switch is toggled | Spec
08.02.24 | I like the album art for 21 gonna check. | Sharenge
08.02.24 | I believe it be the middle entry in the vapor trilogy that starts with Computer Death... felt fitting to throw it on there at the end given all the issues I've been running into lately with my electronics and saving them from the graveyard
oops I was wrong looks like it's the final entry, don't know why I thought Computer Decay was the last one |
