BitterJalapenoJr 07.24.24	I quit smoking nearly a year ago but it's still fucking hard. Obviously, I feel much healthier physically but mentally, it's much more challenging. About 20% of the time, I don't feel "free of smoke". I sometimes feel like that true freedom would be smoking fags should I want to do so. It's like being in a smoke free prison cell, looking through the barred window at all the free smokers outside.

evilford 07.24.24	Yeah @ bitter, quitting can be SUPER hard, ESPECIALLY in that kind of scenario. They say that quitting is easy, but staying quit is the hard part. The first couple of weeks are the easiest honestly. Then you have a bad day, or something triggers an urge and you suddenly need it again and then it's all you can think about. I probably will never quit honestly. So fucking hard.

I set a target last smoking date of my 34th birthday I'm surprised that I managed it. You are right about it being easy at the start, you get the self-righteous feeling of success but it fades quickly.

I don't think I'll ever quit either. But you can surprise yourself with the changes you can make if you just decide to. Looking back it's kinda surreal that I quit cold-turkey for that length of time

evilford 07.24.24	@demon you're definitely not the only user who feels that ad naus surpassed Nihil Quam with III. It is way more experimental than NQVOE, and they killed it fs. Easily my aoty 2021. I just live for riffs, as cheesy as that sounds. Sick riffs make the music for me and are the most identifiable and enjoyable aspect of all of it, personally. Both albums are an experience, but nihil quam just flows so easily and without uninterrupted, active listening. Grown on me a lot too, I think I 3.5d it when it came out. Now it could be in my top 10 albums all time.

evilford 08.22.24	So 20th adversary contains Nespithe and all of their demos completely remastered. Their first demo had none of its songs featured on Nespithe (The Four Instructive Tales....of Decomposition) and 20th adversary also has the only three tracks they recorded during their brief reunion in 2006 (Vanishing Sessions tracks). I personally love the vanishing sessions tracks, and the four instructive tales... demo was their first real demo as far as I understand, so it's neat to hear what their original vision was, even if the original master/tape is a bit rough.
NexCeleris 08.22.24	@Rustune: That Lykathea Aflame album is a singular work of art. An essential listen for anyone with even the slightest interest in dm. Ad Nauseam's Nihil Quam Vacuitas Ordinatum Est is a stellar dissodeath release and among my favorite dm albums from the past decade. Arguably, its follow-up is even better, albeit with a significantly heavier emphasis on avant-garde elements. The Sanguinary Impetus is not only Defeated Sanity's best work yet, but one of the best brutal dm albums ever released. If you're into bdm and don't mind jazzy songwriting, which judging by your love for 1 seems to be the case, chances are it'll blow you away. Lastly, I'm not sure whether you truly have never heard 6, but it's a quintessential dm album and a cornerstone of the bdm subgenre. It lacks the ingenuity and finesse of Nespithe, but makes up for it with raw energy and classic, crushing riffs.

I have been meaning to listen to many of the other albums on this list so I will come back and her make my way through it. And about the 2.5 rating... How shall I justify my actions? I think I listened to it when I was getting recommended for music similar to Gorguts and this sounded more like their second album which I find to be boring, still ok riffs and everything but other than that I was unaffected by it. I remember enjoying pierced from within when I listened to it but maybe I'll go back and listen to Effigy again.
