Kingdok's 2023

Gave it a coupla weeks to let a few albums settle.
1Cattle Decapitation
Terrasite

Cattle Decap's most complete and ultimately satisfying album. Takes everything good about their last three albums and improves on it all. Every track is a belter, and the final chunk creates a completely cinematic mood.

Just Another Body
2Polkadot Cadaver
Echoes Across The Hellscape

Unusually for PC, initially felt solid but a little unspectacular. The rate of growth for some of these tracks was incredible tho, became an absolute belter.

A Dog Without Water
3Stillbirth
Homo Deus

Discovered via their follow up, this one is absolutely as good, tho possibly less flashy. Serious brutal-slam with a lot more depth and replay value than many of their peers.

Descending
4Dying Fetus
Make Them Beg for Death

A seething, rippig, grinding showcase of all of Dying Fetus' strongest elements. Easily up there with their best.

When the Trend Ends
5Hellripper
Warlocks Grim And Withered Hags

First time I've really delved into blackened thrash, after a year of rediscovering the thrash records that shaped my tastes. How can anyone resist a song called Goat Vomit Nightmare!

Warlocks Grim and Withered Hags
6Therapy?
Hard Cold Fire

Feels like T? Have settled into a groove over their last few albums, for the first time really in their career. Wonderful flow and some real nasty hooks keep it punching after uncountable plays.

Two Wounded Animals
7Plump DJs
Replumped

Early 2000s breakbeat was such a fun time, and nobody could touch the Plumps. A mix of (mostly) their best tunes from those time will always be the best party cd.

Scram
8Carnosus
Visions of Infinihility

Superior tech-death with melodic flourishes and a whole lot of speed. Vocals absolutely make it.

Castle of Grief
9Shade Empire
Sunholy

Omega Arcane will always be a next-level album, one that Shade Empire will never match, so would always rather they move to something else. This improves on their last with more coherence, and the clean vocals fit in smoother as well.

This Coffin an Island
10Majesties
Vast Reaches Unclaimed

Nice old school melodeath vibes that don't sound as dated or as unoriginal as it otherwise could.
