Slow af discog walk the last few months and now according to my Applemusic stats, Megadeth are my most listened to band this year. Ridiculous innit

Starts with a finger tapping guitar solo instrumental and ends with the most Megadeth riff OAT in Hook In Mouth. The songs in between are classic bar the cover song.

Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?

Wake Up Dead and Peace Sells are peak Megadeth and together with the supporting tracks provided huge inspiration for all later forms of tech thrash and tech death metal.

Dystopia

This is modern Megadeth brilliance. A fuller heavier tone than the albums before and since and the slight Middle Eastern flavour in songs like The Threat is Real, Conquer or Die and Poisonous Shadows adds depth. Having Ellefson in the band is essential and Chris Adler behind the kit adds so much to the sound as well. Other notable songs Lying in State, Fatal Illusion, Post American World and Last Dying Wish make this one of their very best and their last true great album.

A collection of easygoing hard rock songs that each have a little hook and work together well as an album. At the time though I had stopped listening to them. Got back on board later.

The least collaborative Megadave album is catchy on one hand but a bit dubious on the other. Sometimes I like this album, sometimes it’s yawn inducing.

Despite some eek rhyming lyrics this actually has the basis for a good metal album with some interesting playing and riffs and solos. I can see the musical progression to the next album the excellent Dystopia.

Megadeth going to places they really shouldn’t have. They pushed the commercial envelope for mainstream acceptance with Marty Friedman wanting this rock approach more than the others.
