Obviously albums 1-5 are prime examples of (Mike) Patton-Core. Albums from 6 to 13 have continued in Patton's footsteps. 14 to 20 are debatable - but certainly FNM and Mr. Bungle opened the doors for avant-garde, experimental vocals and/or music in these albums. Let me know if there are any I'm missing.
I agree that Angel Dust is his best album but I do prefer King For a Day by a very small amount. Mr. Bungle self titled is best Bungle although California is also incredible. I need to listen to more Tomahawk but from the albums I have listened to them, very little has grabbed me. His EP with TDEP is amazing and is what got me into the band. I wish he did more with them.
I also prefer King for a Day and it’s mostly because of Patton’s performances. He’s at his most unhinged on it (Star A.D, Cuckoo for Caca, Ugly in the Morning) as well as his smoothest (Evidence, Just A Man, Take This Bottle)
i remember 'ethel duath - painters palette' being kinda fun but its been like 15+ years since i've heard it. 'ground zero - plays standards'[and their other records] and 'naked city - radio'[and grand guignol]
has a lot of clear influence on fantomas/later era bungle
One time me and my friend were walking around a thrift store talking about getting an 11 string bass and this lady came up to us and was like hey do you guys know nuclear rabbit my son plays an 11 string bass in that band and that was how I found out about nuclear rabbit
I don't actually enjoy their music but man how often do you get a free rec from the streets like that right
