Second rule disqualifies one-and-dones and short weirdo discogs like Slint, so maybe there can be balance

I used to think listening to bad music or music I didn’t enjoy in general offered certain types of insights on a more personal level (becoming more and more discerning about what I like in music and what makes good music good etc) but I’ve never really cared to look at a bands process and perspective as critically as to analyze their bad albums and view that as a positive insight. I don’t care too much about what made an artist I like write a bad album I just want to hear a good album lol

Only way to really do that is to drop one or two classics in succession and gtfo. Failure is part of the process of being great for a lot of projects. That said, Digable Planets probably is perfect. D'Angelo is right there too. An argument could be made for Ad Nauseam and Gorguts. Ulcerate if you don't count their first. DsO if you don't count them before 2004 or after 2019.
