Dad Metal that Doesn’t Suck

We’ve all seen the macho dads - with their windows rolled down and flaunting a heavy (grungy) style of music - and thinking they’re badass. When I think on this - nu metal music (from about 1995 to 2004ish) readily comes to mind. TBH, I have been guilty of this in the past. Here are some currently viable dadmetal bands that don’t suck.
1Slipknot
The End, So Far

...can still be brutal AF. Love this band - and Corey Taylor is one of the best all-time metal vocalists. Other bands (early 5FDP and Bad Wolves) have tried to ape this sound, but just slip into the mainstream. Not Slipknot - they still have that x factor that makes them unique.
2Korn
Requiem

Always changing it up and keeping it fresh. And JD, like Ozzy, has a voice like no other. Imitators (Adema, Head himself) have come and gone - and Korn just keeps pushing out top-notch albums.
3Deftones
Ohms

...always coming up with something unique. Chino being another incredibly unique vocalist. For those of you that think LP were the end-all, be-all, started nu metal, and should be here on this list - FU, u weren’t there back then and they didn’t start anything.
4Mudvayne
Mudvayne

I know - they've seen their share of mediocre releases. But after pulling back out the face and body paint; I have a good feeling about the new album coming soon - can’t wait. Chad Gray is a badass.
5Chevelle
NIRATIAS

Although not the most original band - they just keep putting out quality albums. Can’t be said for contemporaries like Godsmack, Disturbed, and Staind, who have some big losers in the deck. Not even going to go there with Staind and Aaron Lewis - early Staind did perform in straight jackets - just saying.
6Alter Bridge
Pawns and Kings

I hesitate to put this band on here. But for a mainstream post-grunge, somewhat nu-metal band - Alter Bridge rocks hard. Tremonti is a talented guitarist, whose own solo albums are quite good as well. Myles Kennedy is a pretty incredible crooner. They have at least kept a moderate to high level of quality over the years; whereas the multitude of mainstream bands (Nickelback, Seether, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Saint Asonia, etc.) are just cookie cutter and a disappointment.
7Mushroomhead
A Wonderful Life

MRH still has it. Something unique to them and still there. No matter the band member changes - this is still a band that experiments and pushes limits.
8Evanescence
The Bitter Truth

Yeah....this is a tough one. I still think Amy Lee is an incredible singer. Albums have really dropped in quality (or memorability) over the years; but they're still some jems to be found in the later discography.
