| EVIL DEAD RISE
Just saw my most anticipated movie of the year last night and I am still incredibly hyped. I do have to see it again this weekend, since there are definitely details I missed given my need to LEGALLY smoke beforehand, but still. I would give it a 9/10. The acting was weirdly really good for a movie like this, the gore was the best I've seen all year, the apartment setting was super interesting, and the makeup was fantastic. There were even more Raimi-isms that I wasn't expecting, given the trailer. I cannot wait to see where this franchise goes from here, but as of now, I prefer this to the 2013 remake. Nothing will ever beat the OG first two films for me, though. I cannot wait to see it again. This was so goddamn awesome. 04.21.23 | It was unreasonably good. I honestly can't really imagine what someone would not like about it (who is going into this type of movie), but that's just on first viewing so I acknowledge the hype and recent bias is strong in me

I liked the remake well enough but I think it’s a totally different film in tone and style than the OG, and was actually kind of depressing to watch. The only reason I saw John Wick 4 in theaters even though it was also 3 hours is because I had no fucking idea it was going to be 3 hours lol. I was exhausted the entire next day for work.

04.21.23 | Yeah I will openly admit that the movie makes little to no sense, and that the movie is the most enjoyable if you just admit you can't understand the plot and let the film take you wherever it goes without any apprehension. There are moments that are so outrageous that I know I'll never see anything like it again, and they could definitely make or break the movie for you. But i love that shit. | Thalassic
