02.21.23 | My friend streamed 3 in a discord call out of curiosity and honestly it wasn’t terrible |

02.21.23 | I don't hate 'Gore', but genuinely feel that it's the weakest Deftones. Probably played it two/three in full and found it very disappointing.
'Load' (and 'Reload') I think have some very strong material, spread amongst a whole heap of mid. They've proven time and again that they can't self-edit and this is one of many examples. Much of the hate though, came with the abandonment of metal, a full embrace of southern hard rock and cutting of hair. These aspects never bothered me too much, as this period brought us things like 'The Outlaw Torn' and (non-album derpiness) 'No Leaf Clover' which I always dug. Wasn't inherently a deal-breaker.
Other albums listed never really interested me much in the first place. |

02.21.23 | I was re-listening to "Load" and "Re-load" respectively some weeks ago and I think both are very solid efforts and definitely don't deserve all this criticism. Sadly, I was underwhelmed by "Gore" (considering Deftones pretty high quality standards) but definitely have to give the album a few more spins before judging it. Not sure about the other albums on your list. |

02.21.23 | mostly ya, but I liked Wrath and Heritage has some cool moments |

02.21.23 | I like it when bands try something new. Even if they fail at it or it doesn't speak to their usual fans. I think Korn were very brave when they made Path of Totality and I have a lot of respect for that.
So for those albums I've listened to:
3 - no
4 - no
5 - no
9 - not a fan, but wouldn't say it deserves 'hate' |

02.21.23 | 8 NO!
Poor 8. |

02.21.23 | i don't think 4 is hated so much as it's disappointing |

02.21.23 | The worst I can say about Gore is that aside from Phantom Bride it's kinda forgettable |
JKing92
02.21.23 | People hated 4? I think it's their fourth best album (White Pony, Around the Fur, and Ohms are my top three, respectively).
Outside of that, though, 5 is not great but definitely interesting (a lot more so than what their thrash metal peers were doing around that time), and I've heard 3 and it's pretty bad (and I love the first Korn album, and I like a few other tracks from them like "Freak on a Leash").
The rest of the albums on the list I haven't heard, but most of them I'm not interested in -- I don't like In Flames, Opeth, Mudvayne, and Lamb of God, I've always wanted to like Fear Factory and Machine Head more than I actually do, the only Megadeth albums I truly love are Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction, the solo Corey Taylor album didn't interest me, I'm not a huge Sepultura fan outside of Roots (their one album I really like), and solo Ozzy is decent enough but nowhere near as terrific as self-titled-through-Master of Reality-era Sabbath.
Interesting list, though, I can say. |

02.21.23 | I've always liked 5 tbh, but that's really the only one on this list I'm familiar with. |

02.21.23 | i will defend load until my dying breath |

02.21.23 | also don't think gore would get too much hate if it didn't sound like shit, songs are mostly fine even if kinda mid by deftones standards |
porcupinetheater
02.21.23 | Heritage is one of the best Opeth albums
Rest of their prog era since has been mediocre and Heritage got that creeping atmosphere |
JohnnyoftheWell
02.21.23 | Would rather jam Heritage over Damnation/Deliverance/Ghost Revs any day |
BAT
02.21.23 | 3 4 5 and 8 are passable but inessential. The rest I'd been shyd away from and never heard |

02.23.23 | 1 - yes fear factory is boring
2 - yes
3 - no this album is actually a masterpiece in the way it seamlessly blends pop song structures and nu metal instrumentation with golden age brostep sounds - close to perfect as electronic rock will ever get both conceptually and in execution
4 - the production fucking sucks and chino sounds stupid on half the tracks but it's bearable, could go either way
5 - no
6 - no
7 - yes

9 - average at best, slightly disappointing at worst, not worth thought at all
