|1||One Step Closer|
Songs for the Willow
Melodic hardcore/Post hardcore
Initial Thoughts (IT): Great 3 track EP, leaves you wanting more.
Will I listen again (WILA): Yeah this is an easy listen and only 3 tracks.
Exotic Creatures and a Stolen Dream
IT: Did not like the vocals. Started with a 26 minute song, then 14 minute song, however found it quite boring
IT: A lot to like about this album. Great vocal delivery, and great production (Portishead's Geoff Barrow). Wouldn't call this one post-punk, more like indie rock with pop sensibilities.
WILA: Yeah, a bit more diving into this is warranted.
IT: Loud, aggressive, abrasive, noisy, Everything you want in a death-metalcore album.
WILA: Maybe, if my ears feel like being assaulted.
IT. EP of the year so far, the first track "Don't Talk to Me", is an instant classic. Great emo punk.
WILA: Yeah, played 3 times already.
IT: A nice lush emo/shoegaze album. Think a lot of people around here would like.
WILA: Yep, need to sink my teeth into this.
The Era of Darkness
IT: Do not like the vocals, and if you don't like the vocals, then you can't listen to a Power Metal album in full.
This Will Pass
Swiss Punk Rock
IT: Pretty good late 90s pop punk/skate punk
WILA: There are a few standout tracks, but the rest i could live without.
IT: Some really good songs here.
|10||Pass the flask|
IT: Gruff vocals melodic punk, think Off With Their Heads. 16 tracks on this one and more than half are great. The title track is very strong.
WILA: Yep, added to the playlist.
Vuelco Al Corazón
Spanish Pop Punk
IT: Pretty good pop punk, but not really standing out. Still a couple of killer tracks, check Siente
WILA: Not the whole thing, maybe a 1 or 2 of the best.
|12||Dead End Drive-In|
A Worthwhile Endeavour
Punk Rock/Celtic Punk
IT: At times sounds like when the Menzingers and Bouncing Souls did a split EP, got some Dropkick Murphy vibes as well. Some really good tracks here.
Australian garage Punk
TI: All a bit samesy, with nothing really standing out. Lots of distortion, lots of fuzz, vocals are passionate with an Aussie twang.
Scrivo Il Niente
IT: At times skate punk, bordering pop punk. Got a late 90s early 00s feeling. Good tight band, bassist stands out.
WILA: Maybe a couple more spins, and then just the best songs.
IT: Back after 20 years, this Swedish emo band have released a good one. Got Foxing/Prawn vibes.
WILA: yeah, it is great!
let’s not and say we did
IT: Very good emo, at times sounds like a group sitting around a campfire. Lyrics are key here, vocals are great, music is simple mathy emo, but it works.
WILA: Yeah this band has a lot of potential.
Living Has Consequences
Italian Skate Punk/pop punk
IT: Good tight skate punk, got 90s fat wreck vibes.
WILA: Yeah a couple of tracks will be added to my playlist
Always Wanted To Be
Emo /Power Pop
IT:Good songs, however production lacking. Vocal harmonies could use some work.
WILA: Yep good little EP
Midwest emo/mathy post punk
IT: cool sound, vocals and guitar tone have a gothy post punk sound, however the music is more in the style of mathy emo.
WILA: Yeah 7 song album, easy to listen again.
IT: this is on the softer side of emo. Some great songwriting.
WILA: Yep a couple of decent tracks here that will y repeated plays.
Spanish Hardcore Punk
IT: Early sounding hardcore from the Spanish Bait.
WILA: Yeah best hardcore release of the year so far.
|22||Arbor Labor Unio n|
Psych Dance Punk
Roques muito pesado infernal caotico ou
Best album cover of 2023 so far. Also shitcore should be the next genre tag.
Double album of Japanese indie pop/rock. A lot to like here and it's varied enough to keep you interested over the 2 albums.
Dungeon Crawlers (Guide to the Cool)
|30||Still No One|
This is Fuel
Italian Skate Punk
Sounds like 90s SoCal punk
