i saw Sunn 0))) last night

and it was weird
1Leila Bordreuil
Headflush

the show started off with Leila Bordreuil doing some interesting noise/drone stuff on her cello. never really understood this genre but I guess it makes sense seeing it live and really loud. at one point I felt the shit in my lower intestines rattling cuz of the low ends (or maybe it was the chopped cheese), so I guess that was cool. overall, it felt like I was stuck inside a Bladerunner transition scene or the first circle of hell
2High Command
Eclipse of the Dual Moons

not gonna lie, I went to the show to see High Command again. last time I saw them was 3 years ago in the basement of a small club in DC, seeing them on a big stage in a huge warehouse loud as hell was amazing. these guys just do not disappoint. cherry on top was watching the unsuspecting wine-sipping brooklyn art hoes getting caught in the mosh
3Sunn O)))
Pyroclasts

had no idea what to expect and was super excited to find out. always thought this band was a meme, like seriously, people actually enjoy listening to this shit? but after hearing it live, I think I get it. it sounds so intense, grating, bone-rattling, and a bit anxiety inducing (the fog and strobe lights didnt help). I soon found my feet glued to the floor as I was caught in a drone-y trance. the slow, low riffs lasted for about an hour and a half, culminating in an outro/finale that saw the band play their fastest riffs yet (I think it was like, at least 5 notes over a few minutes??). felt overcome with relief when their set ended and the tension dissipated. very cool experience, tho I don't think I'd do it again
