Top 20 Albums of the Year

The year has been absolutely stacked. This is the first year that I have actively participated in the site and it really has been a joy interacting with all of you.
1Denzel Curry
Melt My Eyez See Your Future

This is easily my most listened to this year. I really like the more mature approach he took on this record.
2Voivod
Synchro Anarchy

The hooks just stay in my head and Snake's voice is just iconic.
3Nas
King's Disease III

I initially got a little carried away with my rating there giving it an instant 5, but honestly it slaps. The only reason i dropped it is because i think it would have been even better if it was slightly shorter.
4Drudkh
All Belong To The Night

I was pretty surprised with this one. Atmosphere wise, it holds its own with their classic era.
5Immolation
Acts of God

Not quite as good as atonement, but its not far off.
6Crowbar
Zero And Below

I really enjoyed writing this review and I still love the album. Saw them live this year and it was crushing.
7Billy Woods
Aethiopes

Honestly, I have no idea whats going when I listen to Billy all I know is that i like it a lot.
8Cult of Luna
The Long Road North

Beautifully constructed record and probably the most melancholic of the year.
9Messa
Close

Vocals are gorgeous and the tribal elements are really fun.
10Konvent
Call Down The Sun

Probably the heaviest album of the year.
11King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard
Omnium Gatherum

The Dripping Tap is the song of the year
12The Wonder Years
The Hum Goes on Forever

I usually don't like this kind of music, but damn those tracks really stick in your head.
13Mizmor and Thou
Myopia

What a combo
14Phobophilic
Enveloping Absurdity

Great Death Doom saw them live recently and they didnt dissapoint.
15Scarcity
Aveilut

Im really excited to see where this band goes in the future. Im hoping they keep that Work which transforms god influence in their sound
16Aara
Triade II: Hemera
17Maul
Seraphic Punishment

This one kinda fell through the cracks but I think its one of the better Death Metal releases of the year
18Temple of Void
Summoning the Slayer

Really interesting route for these guys to take and im all for it. A little more catchy than their previous efforts.
19Naked Flames
Miracle in Transit

I really enjoyed this record but forget about it for awhile. Honestly, I didnt forget about it because its not good. Its a strong record! This just isnt a genre I'm well acquainted with.
20The Weeknd
Dawn FM

Really solid follow up effort.
