MyMentality
10.07.22 | You've got fairly similar tastes to me! Give Arcane Roots a try, Melancholia Hymns could be well up your street. Try Matter or Off The Floor from that album, or Resolve from Blood & Chemistry :) |

10.07.22 | I’m so glad that heavy gaze is a thing now
Check the heavy gaze list that’s been bouncing around this week, it rules
Hum and Nothing are bands you’ll like |
Scornfyre
10.07.22 | MyMentality Arcane Roots sounds awesome so far.
Johnny as a huge Failure and Shiner fan, I already know about Hum, but I forgot to rate them lmao. Will fs check out the rest of the recos tho. Thanks. |
Scornfyre
10.07.22 | Shemson will def check out that list. Though Nothing is already one of my fav bands of all time lmao. Great Dismal comes close to a 5 for me. |
Kompys2000

10.07.22 | I'd heard the term swancore before, but never knew what it actually was. Is it just the encapsulating term for the many, many prog post hardcore bands? I guess I should have figured there was a defined name for it. |
Shemson
10.07.22 | I saw you’d rates The Great Dismal high but you also need to get on Guilty Of Everything if you haven’t, I love that album |
Scornfyre
10.07.22 | I have I just tend to forget to rate stuff lol. Guilt of Everything is amazing too. Just not as amazing as Great Dismal :p |
Scornfyre
10.07.22 | "yeah, pretty much an umbrella term for all that Dance Gavin Dance school of fast food notes-per-minute flysadboy jank"
LOL. I fucking hate DGD. It's so weird too cause I like a lot of the bands in that same "scene" |
Scornfyre
10.07.22 | DGD somehow manages to make extremely talented vocalists sound mediocre and wastes them anyway by using them for like 20% of each song tops. |
Mort.
10.07.22 | i reccomend Fear before - the always open mouth
listen to the track 'mouth' for a teaser. sort of a post hardcore track with some atmospheric vibes. think you would enjoy |

10.07.22 | idk I just heard Eels - Beautiful Freak and you seem to like a lot of alt rock, so maybe you'll like it |
Scornfyre

MyMentality
10.07.22 | Glad you're liking Arcane Roots! To be fair Melancholia Hymns is probably the hardest of their albums to get into, it's quite slow and dreamlike. Heaven & Earth is their most consistent release if you want something a bit more gripping (Slow Dance is monumental, but all the tracks here are awesome) Gonna check out some of these other suggestions too! Need some new music. |
Scornfyre
10.07.22 | Melancholia Hymns definitely seemed like something I will appreciate either a lot more or a lot less with subsequent listens. It was definitely right up my alley overall, but I didn't connect with any of the individual tracks on first listen.
Also if you want recommendations, I didn't see Receiving End of Sirens or Tides of Man in your ratings. Both should be right up your alley if our tastes are similar. Between the Heart and the Synapse and Empire Theory are near 10/10s for me easily. This Armistice and Knowing That You've Already Arrived are probably good starting points. |
rabidfish
10.07.22 | eiafuawn - birds in the ground |
MyMentality
10.07.22 | I've listened to some of TREOS in the past and dug what I heard! Will definitely give them a proper listen though, thanks for the heads up! Tides of Man I haven't heard yet though, will give them a spin. Cheers for the suggestions!
In Shallow Seas We Sail by Emery is a fantastic post hardcore album if you're into that kinda stuff, incredible energy and hooks throughout. |
