09.28.22 | "padded" would prob be the other descriptor for my issues with 3, I can dig an album that's all over the place[might not love it tho], the problem is that some of these tracks feel way longer than they have any reason to be, which makes it a lot harder to enjoy than say, the Beatles' White Album where most songs don't even hit the 4 minute mark |

11.21.22 | I understand having a hard time with the pacing for king crimson’s debut. They’re often lauded as the first progressive rock band and that makes people assume things about their sound but they have been, from the beginning, extreeeemely varied and idiosyncratic, and their debut is a showcase of styles for them that would grow larger and smaller in sound depending on the release. I didn’t understand it being 5-worthy for years, but once I did there was no going back - and yes, that includes moonchild which is an amazing filter for people who claim to like jazz |

but I find it a slog to listen to and ultimately KC has produced a number of records where they evolve on the ideas brought in 1, which I ultimately prefer. So I can't say I'm too bummed over not liking it |

I actually don't dislike all the weird stuff in moonchild but it's the only part of the album that I could reasonably see someone saying doesn't fit, is a slog, etc |

Generally when I'm looking for jazz I'm looking for hard bop/post bop type stuff, Moonchild is too slow for my taste personally, if that makes me a "fake jazz fan" so be it, pretending to like stuff you don't to come across as 'patrician' is ultimately a silly waste of time at the end of the day |

11.21.22 | Yeah I don't think disliking that section means you hate jazz. Jazz comes in many different forms and you don't have to like all of them.
The debut is still my favorite king crimson though even though I like a lot of their other records |
