I think short story writing is still going strong. It's not exactly a money making business, but it's good practice for upcoming writers and there's still lots of contests and calls for short stories. |

the small aims ive set myself for now is to make it funny (earnest misinterpretations of history and pop culture are funny), to move onto whatever part of it is currently coming to mind, rather than obsessing about getting each bit perfect then moving on, and to write at least one paragraph a week.
Once i have a desk in my room im pretty sure i can start working on it properly but for now thats all i can really do. i have the time atm which is nice.
doesnt help that i havent written fiction since i was like 12 (i always wanted to be an author growing up, but every authority figure/family friend/adult in my life basically said 'oooh very hard to make a living doing that, not everyone can do it you should probably have more achievable goals' so i never tried or developed the skills. But its never too late to start so hey ho

It was much more than that in my head originally, but I felt like it was too much so I stopped writing. Might continue in the future. |
