Rabidfish's June selection

I've done "list is digs" lists b4, u know the deal. I'll try to sell them to yall, so don't be a fool, and go to the school. of good music, that is.
1Nubya Garcia
SOURCE

(spiritual jazz)
Nubya is a gifted musician, and her capacity to meld jazz with other london diaspora sounds is done so tastefully and with so much love and care one cannot do much but admire it. It's cool, i like it.
2Tides
Resurface

(sludge)
I was sold on the promise that sludge would give me that dirty, slimy, "drunk and high" sabbath worship sound i like so much, but it's been a huge disappointment so far. This isn't that, but it's slow, heavy and kinda sad? not in a stupid way, in a cool way. I like it, it's noice.
3Perfume Genius
Ugly Season

(GOOD STUFF)
His best album yet. Wish it becomes a breach point for more interesting ideas and sounds in the dude's music, and not some failed experiment.
4Meshell Ndegeocello
Peace Beyond Passion

(neo-soul/funk)
Holy shit, this bangs. So much to love here. Need more of this in my loife, so do you. Go.
5PJ Harvey
Is This Desire?

(alt-rock/singer-songwriter? i dunno lol)
Been doing a Pajama Harvey deep-dive (which i still haven't finished), but this still stands tall, way above the rest, in her discog. It's sticky music, like thick tar or grease... It should feel bad but it feels good, tho.
6The Pretty Things
Parachute

(psychedelic)
Good psych shit like this is harder to come about than one would expect. There's a fine, delicate line between the good stuff and the mediocre, and it's subtle. This is the good stuff, most def. Bluesy, passionate, fun. Check it out.
7Tosca
Suzuki

(downtempo)
Late-night-studying-need-to-finish-this-paper-asap vibes. Something more engaging than white noise, but not so complex you actually need braincells to enjoy. You can do so soooo much worse than this.
8Christoph Willibald Gluck
Orfeo ed Euridice

(classical/opera)
this is an opera that's not so over the top, it's pretty chill throughout, even the more dramatic moments. Still tryna dig into the more "heavy" classical stuff, but this is more up my alley. I enjoyed it.
9Da Captain Trips
Adventures in the Upside Down

(stoner rock/jam session)
just straight up stoner music to smoke weed and chill.
10Burning Spear
Burning Spear

(roots reggae)
1st album from the roots legend. The production is choppy but it got that early 70's Studio 1 sound, it's a classic.
11Igor Stravinsky
Le Sacre du Printemps

(classic)
this is a classic. If you haven't listened to it. Damn. Sad. If you have, what's your favorite version? i've only listened to the berliner philarmoniker directed by Von Karajan and the one with the students directed by Bernstein.
12Matthew Halsall
Fletcher Moss Park

(modal jazz)
This dude makes so much cool, chill, interesting and beautiful music. God bless, man.
