foxblood: Top 45 Sega Genesis games

foxblood 07.02.22	List idea from CaliggyJack. I'm not that into the SNES besides Chrono Trigger, are there any other sega fans around here at all? It seems like there isn't.

MO 07.02.22	all the streets of rages are amazing in their own ways. I love the first one so much, also Sonic 1 and 2 and the Shinobi games are killer too

foxblood 07.02.22	I know 3d blast isn't that popular. but to be fair SOR2 with 2 players is probably the best game on the console. and yeah I like Hang Time a lot more than jam, I know I'm the only one. @shuyin Alien Storm is cool good ost, Gauntlet 4 is great I've always wanted to get more into that game. never played Lotus II, that's got to be one of the few games on the console I've never even tried. Altered Beast is simple but addicting. Samurai Showdown seems very good, I've barely played it.

SNES has probably the most diverse library other than the PS2' dude heck no, I have a romset with all the games and I've at least tried most of them, the SNES lacks severely in diversity compared to the genesis in my opinion. the genesis just doesn't have nearly as many good rpgs. PS2 library is definitely the best of all time though.

foxblood 07.02.22	'Also why did you repost the list?' sput fucked up. I'd love to see a master system list, I never had one but always wanted it. I have all the roms on a flash cart for the genesis, but I don't even know where to start, maybe that list will point me in the right direction.

foxblood 07.02.22	@treb the SNES has first party classics (the games you just listed), the genesis just has a million more weird hidden gems, tons of shmups, japanese exclusives etc.

It's insane how many gameboys were sold. the Master System looks very nice graphically, the only game I've played much is Sonic Chaos which is an overlooked classic

Shuyin 07.02.22	Done Yea, the Saturn was a 2D beast! Going back to Gauntlet, the game is great in coop and the music is just fucking awesome

GmemberKills 07.02.22	I can't say I play a lot of Genesis stuff but I love Gunstar Heroes, Sonic, Vectorman (that soundtrack is a banger) and a lot of the beat em-ups on this system. Like Streets Of Rage is classic, and even some of the lesser ones like Power Rangers The Movie, and the Japanese only Sailor Moon beat-em up are fun for what they are
foxblood 07.02.22	Sailor moon is decent, there are better sailor moon games though. Vectorman has great music. I like both power rangers games, they aren't great though, the movie one doesn't have enough enemy variety.

For me though, it was the definitive home port, and was absolutely jaw-dropping. Marked an incredible step up rom the 8-bit systems and genuinely felt like a home arcade experience. Everything about it still holds up, as far as I'm concerned. One of the first games that come to mind when I think of that era of video games.

foxblood 07.02.22	I never played strider until I got a flash cart about 8 years ago, but it definitely holds up and plays very nicely.

foxblood 07.05.22	I didn't include sonic 1 & 3 just to leave space for other things, both of those along with a bunch of sonic hacks could easily make up a lot of the list
foxblood 07.05.22	Rocket knight is one of my favorites for sure, I have beaten it a million times. Lately I've been playing Sparkster, I think it actually plays better, it just looks worse.
Gyromania 07.05.22	Yeah sparkster is something I never got into because the aesthetic just didn't work for me. Rocket knight has some drawbacks too but overall it's a masterpiece. You play sonic mania? I've been playing the hell out of that lately and I think it's probably the best sonic game ever made. I wish it had gotten dlc levels or even a second game.
foxblood 07.05.22	After getting over the aesthetic downgrade I was surprised to discover how well the game plays, your jet pack automatically recharges so the pace of the game is way faster it's a lot of fun. both games have great music too. I actually like his character sprite more in Sparkster, but the backgrounds and enemies aren't nearly as good. Rocket Knight is pretty much perfect. I've played the Sonic Mania demo, that's all. it is extremely good, the guy that made that is a fan that knows what he's doing, unlike Sega. The art and music are really good, so are the controls. I've never bought it though, looks like it is on sale on steam right now so I might have to get it.
