06.04.22 | The Wire debuted in 2002
also plenty of amazing sitcoms like The Good Place and Arrested Development are post 2001
Hell even cartoons like Bojack Horseman have stretched the medium
Don't be closeminded, thanks |
ArsMoriendi
06.04.22 | Also Friends is horrible, it's literally just Seinfield if it were sanitized, dumbed down, and featured a creepy main character (Ross) |

06.04.22 | Modern tv is kinda garbage yeah, but it’s still better than a lot of old stuff. Once they figure out how episodic pacing works again things will work out |
IsisScript80
06.04.22 | Hmmm... Kusangii is possibly reiterating the same shenanigans as his 'Metal Died in 1993' list.

06.05.22 | Breaking Bad, The Americans, Bojack Horseman, Game of Thrones (last season or 2 excepted), Shameless (UK), The Office (UK), Mad Men, Rectify, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Better Call Saul, Fargo, Hannibal, Veep, Silicon Valley, Borgen, Modern Family, The Leftovers, Battlestar Galactica, Hannibal, Fleabag, Line of Duty, Outnumbered, plus the ones mentioned above like Sopranos, West Wing, South Park, The Wire... I could literally go on for 50 more shows.
You are nuts. 2000-2020 has been the best age of television EVER. |
JKing92
06.05.22 | I actually kinda love Dr. Phil, honestly. I initially dismissed it as some boring self-help show, but after seeing the "Cash Me Outside" girl on there back in 2016 or 2017, I began regularly watching, and even though I haven't been following quite as closely since he initially went virtual following COVID (it wasn't as fun without an audience, in my view), there have been episodes that have aired since then I've seen that I really enjoy (like the one about Andrew the TikTok star -- now that one was wild). |

06.05.22 | Television peaked in the 90's with Jerry Springer, Judge Judy, and the price is right. It's been all downhill from there. |

06.05.22 | Dude, TV is like taking black spray paint to your third eye |

Haunting Of Hill House
Haunting Of Bly Manor
The Mandolorian
Not even to mention the high quality nature documentaries available now.
We live in a golden age of TV, you don't have to enjoy any of the above to recognise that TV can go toe to toe with Cinema these days. |
markjamie
06.07.22 | ^ I would argue that TV has become probably more consistently amazing than cinema over the past 20 years. More risks taken. |

markjamie
05.24.24 | Television reached its absolute peak from 2000 - 2020ish. If you only think there are 12 good shows since 2000 then we have very, very, very different ideas about what constitutes great television. |
