I actually thought there'd be more alternatives to Meshuggah tbh, some you mentioned like Car Bomb and Frontierer, others are Vildhjarta. But generally, there are a lot more alternatives of Periphery than they are of Meshuggah, which I find surprising.

But they just do what they do, forever more. Other than those plus points mentioned, I find them very often (mostly, really) robotic, repetitive and unemotional. Taste is taste, there’s no real “getting it” beyond that. Those fully on-board, lap it up. Those not, never will.

This band is about the grooves and patterns, which includes the vocals as a component of it. This also explains why more people gravitate towards Periphery and company because their songwriting approach is 8-string riffs and melodies.
