onionbubs
02.07.22 | ya part of why i stayed away from descrips (in addition to j not being able to come up w good ones) is for those in the midst of their first viewing since i only watched this for the first time in like december but ya whoever did this is a classic and a wild end to ralphs arc
edit: lol misread comment ya the episode after pine barrens is great too (and pine barrens ofc) |

02.07.22 | Yeah I’m with Rowan
Whitecaps is just a fucking masterclass in acting from Gandolfini but especially Edie Falco. Coming from a broken home, that episode absolutely fucking nails what actual marital disputes are like. Having both of them just say the most hateful shit toward each other just to try to make a point.
I really think both of those fight scenes are the best display of acting ever, and Whitecaps might be my favorite episode of television ever. That’s rivaled by a certain Leftovers and Breaking Bad episodes but that’s a different conversation.
Whitecaps is one of the GOATS |
Cormano
02.07.22 | funny I was watching The Blue Comet last night and I'm due for the finale today
never get tired of this show |
Cormano
02.07.22 | nobody's got AIDS, I don wanna hear that word in here again |

02.07.22 | the leftovers is probably the next show im gonna watch after i finish rewatching this. only tv episodes id put above my fav sopranos episodes are the peaks in mr robot imo but ive only seriously started getting into tv over the last year or two so my tv knowledge is still pretty limited |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.07.22 | “ never get tired of this show”
the older you get, the more important watching becomes.
The Leftovers will always be my favorite, but the Sopranos is a close fucking second. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.07.22 | Oh man onion, I don’t want to overhype it but it’s so incredible. I’m admittedly a pretty emotional person, so there are multiple episodes of that show that have brought me to tears.
Also, season 1 takes a few episodes to get going. But seasons 2 and 3 are the best television I’ve ever seen. Just absolutely masterpieces in storytelling. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.07.22 | And I’ve been meaning to get into Mr Robot. I loved Rami Malek in the newest Bond movie |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.07.22 | God just now rewatching those two argument scenes.
Gandolfini and Falco really displayed the best acting I’ve ever seen. Just fucking incredible. |
onionbubs
02.07.22 | mr robot is insane and i cannot recommend it enough s4 i think is the best season of tv ive seen, altho 6b definitely gives it a run for its money.
will let you know once i finish this sopranos rewatch and start watching leftovers im quite a bit more hyped now lol |
Rowan5215
02.08.22 | Mr Robot and Leftovers are goated agreed, Atlanta is in this conversation too |
onionbubs
02.08.22 | yea i need to get on atlanta too. loved glover in community but havent seen him in anything else yet so ive been meaning to change that for a while (not that im expecting anything like that lol) |
Rowan5215
02.08.22 | his performance in Atlanta couldn't be further removed from Troy but it's still so good. he deliberately decentres himself from the main character role after a while though, which pays off insanely well. Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfield are all giving all-time performances in that show. can't wait for s3 soon |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.08.22 | Man Atlanta and Barry i think should be mentioned in the same breath.
Both are pitch black dark offbeat comedies, both are still unfinished etc
I think if you like one you’ll probably like the other. Ronny/lily remains one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. |
Rowan5215
02.08.22 | Barry is fucking incredible, it's been so long since it was on I forget about it sometimes lmao
Better Call Saul and first 3 seasons of Fargo are in this tier too for sure |
onionbubs
02.08.22 | definitely gotta get on these others big thanks to y'all for helpin me plan out my whole tv schedule for the next year lol, but ill hard [2] better call saul. incredible show and im beyond hyped for s6 |
Sharenge
02.08.22 | Top 1 Sopranos episodes - the whole series |
onionbubs
02.08.22 | nah but i can honestly only think of like 1 or 2 episodes im not that into. even the common picks for bad episodes like luxury lounge and christopher are really fuckin funny |
Ryus
02.25.23 | looking at these all side by side its kind of insane how incredible all of these are lmao what a show |
Colton
02.25.23 | might watch this show after I finish The Wire |
Sharenge
02.25.23 | can I come |
DominionMM1
02.25.23 | couldn’t come up with a personal top 10 but a hit is a hit would have to be included just for the studio scene and Tony giving cooze that box of sand |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.25.23 | don’t remember this thread and I’m not gonna read it but I know I was probably gushing about Whitecaps.
Just finished my rewatch, other standouts are practically all of season 6 B (specifically Stage 5, as someone that has lost someone very dear to me to cancer, that episode destroys me), Test Dream, Long Term Parking, Employee of the Month, Isabella (another aside, they absolutley nail what true and utter despair that depression can cause at its worst, incredible direction and ofc Gandolfini is at the top of his game.), Amour Fou (“It won’t be cinematic” might be the most threatening line in the entire series) The Knight in White Satin Armor, Members Only, Whoever Did This, Pine Barrens, and Funhouse.
Really, the only the only episodes I consider to be weak, are A Hit is a Hit, and D Girl. People hate on Christopher but that’s probably the shows funniest episode. And Chasing It is fine, it’s just not nearly as good as literally every other episode in that season.
Oh and I think College is incredibly overrated. I still like it, but the Father Intintola storyline is a fucking bore and it hits its climax in that episode. Glad they dropped his character for the most part after season 1. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.25.23 | hilarious you commented that during my long ass comment.
Yeah that’s fucking hysterical. His wife is what gets me most, she’s all like “DONT TOUCH IT” and it’s never brought up again lmfao |
DominionMM1
02.25.23 | employee of the month and long term parking are still super hard to to watch for me due to very obvious reasons |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.25.23 | So many people I know hate that Melfi didn’t tell Tony about that scene. But I think it suits her character so perfectly. She knows Tony would’ve had that fucker ripped limb from limb, hell, he probably would’ve done it himself. She’s such an incredible character. In the beginning they originally want Lorraine Bracco as Carmella but I’m so glad they didn’t go that route.
And yeah, Drea de Matteo and Michael Imperioli won Emmy’s for that episode, and rightfully fucking so. That scene where she reveals what’s going on is fucking masterful and the aftermath is one of the most emotionally devastating things in the entire series.
Goddamnit I love this show. |
Ryus
02.25.23 | it has the best characters of any show ive seen. so much depth considering just how many amazing characters there are. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.25.23 | I literally want to start it back up and watch it again.
As a kid I always heard about how good it is, but mostly ignored it because it was “old”. And in a way, I’m kind of glad I did. Breaking Bad, The Shield, other shows with “anti heroes”, they’re still great, but idk if I could’ve handled the Sopranos at a young age. Not dissing those shows, they’re both probably in my top 10 if I made one, but Sopranos is just on another level that those two can’t even touch. The best moments in those shows are on the same level as any given scene in any given episode of the Sopranos.
The Leftovers is the only other one that has that kind of thematic depth to it imo, but I’ve still yet to watch Deadwood, which I think is the last of the “truly great” television series that I haven’t seen yet. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.25.23 | Okay so literally everything Ryus said but in a way thats much more stupid and way less concise |
