JKing92 02.06.22	I agree with Tool and Metallica (even though I love them both), as well as Meshuggah (who I am anything but a fan of). I would also add Iron Maiden to this list. Jesus God does the r/lewronggeneration, "Music was so much better in the past!" sect of their fanbase make me go ballistic. Makes me happy I haven't actively listened to their work since high school.
BAT 02.06.22	@sint i went to a rbf concert in like 2013? and the entire audience was vaping yuppies, there were exactly 3 people in the smoking section with at least 500 in the venue. the openers played disney covers and the entire audience sang along but i was honestly the only one that didn't know the lyrics to stuff like the little mermaid. pink floyds honestly my favorite band of all time, stay clear. and damn iron maiden would've been perfect what fanbase is better nirvana or black sabbath

onionbubs 02.07.22	anyone saying periphery should be here just went into them wanting to hate them 100%. Periphery are easily one of the best metalcore bands to come out, period. That is if they are even considered metalcore... they've straight-up transcended the metalcore genre at the seams, I digress. They have influenced every single metalcore band to come out of the scene in some way shape or form since 2010 for christs sake.
BAT 02.07.22	i've been listening to periphery since the myspace bulbdays, before they even had those two vocalists spencer replaced. i'm also from maryland which is pretty much their homebase next to dc, most local periphery fans i know gravitated from stuff like slipknot/chimaria/agony scene thaaan periphery became the only metal band they'd care about till about 2014, i've heard quite a lot of periphery fans bash music on bandnames alone. i have seen them 5 or 6 times and spencer has grown into a pretty solid showman, they are a good band.

BAT 02.07.22	idknowww i saw them in a club and they were heavier than the average summer slaughter band. other things to report : for a three block radius around the venue it smelled like straight weed, there was some chick dancing with tree branches in the corner and like 15 people walked up to her throughout the concert to ask if she was okay or needed help, and it was probably the last show where i saw the chickensuit guy in the pit. edit : also for context i went into primus live only knowing like sailing the seas of cheese, they were way heavier than i'd realized annnd i've become a huge fan since.

Doesn't stop me from owning a pair of Primus socks I got at a show when they were touring with Mastodon. They're also not that heavy. I mean, they're heavy enough, but far from the heaviest band I've seen.

SitarHero 02.07.22	Probably because they had a better mixing engineer to be honest. When I saw Tool live they made the entire arena vibrate but I could still hear every kick drum and bass guitar note with complete clarity. Meanwhile The Killing Joke's opening set sounded like complete ass.

DavidYowi 02.07.22	On the subject of Primus fans, I saw them their Farewell to Kings tour and man there are some weird ass people that go to Primus shows. I saw a guy in a squid hat with a Japanese fan, a dude in an ahego shirt on, a guy dressed as a farmer wearing a straw hat, and a huge white dude with dreads and a tye-dye shirt with the words DON’T WORRY tattooed on his knuckles who was fucking throwing people in the pit. The mosh pit was surprisingly aggressive even though Primus have gotten less heavy and more jammy in recent years. You could tell that most of the crowd hadn’t listened to anything heavier than Primus or had listened to a new band since 2003. They were moshing like it was still 1994. It was the saddest, most uncomfortable mosh pit I have ever seen. The Primus show ripped btw, probably the best I’ve ever seen them. They played a lot of their darker, more atmospheric songs and their tribute to Rush was deeply touching. The closest I’ll get to seeing Rush live and I’ll fucking take it.

BAT 02.07.22	@ReturnToRock idk he's kind of a character, from what i can gather he's been into music journalism since the early 2000s and does kinda remind me of a pitchforkmusic writer minus the folk/flaming lips obsession. he'll flaunt his friendship with the band 'spazz' than proceed to recommend a buncha warped tour/bam margeracore stuff as the highlights of the 2000s, his favorite offspring album is 'the conspiracy of one.' he'll decry musical elitism/gatekeeping/scene toxcity than call primus the kings of 'incelcore' a month later. he wants to present himself as an objective commentator but his insights usually sound like a metalsucks article. to his credit he's pretty straight forward about his background/viewpoints, buut his snarkiness toward any band he didn't listen to is off-putting and he takes himself a bit too seriously. at the very least it's interesting to hear someone elses viewpoint on scenes of the past, i have more of a 'stoner' background. also remembered the time i saw nails and some 6'5''ft dude ran across the pit and did a front flip directly into some 4ft lady, both feet connecting to her head and him landing directly on her. fight almost broke out buut other pit people pulled it apart before any serious punches. nails were also the headliner and played for like 30 minutes with occasional pauses to bitch about cancel culture. full of hell is better, nails had louder amps i guess.
