Year of Video Games: Month 9
1The Brave Little Abacus
Just Got Back from the Discomfort...

Alan Wake (pc) - 6/10

Alan wake is mediocre in almost every aspect. The combat which features whittling down enemy shields with a flashlight and then shooting them two or three times gets old really quick. The light gimmick is cool, and the stronger weapons the flash grenade and the flare gun are really fun but they're op and you don't get a lot of ammo for them. The game is linear to a fault and I found the story to be just ok. The story is really make or break for this kind of game because there's not much else on offer.
2The Brave Little Abacus
Demo?

Quake (pc) - 9/10

Quake is Doom but with better gameplay, less confusing level design, and less character. Quake has a killer atmosphere but it's just so serious and dower, Doom is more fun in comparison. Quake is the blueprint for all boomer shooters and its fuckin good and you already know all this it's always on sale for like a dollar on steam just play the damn thing.

Split

Amid Evil (pc) - 9.5/10

Amid Evil is the best boomer shooter I've ever played. It has a fantasy setting like hexen/heretic and instead of guns you use staffs and swords and instead of a rocket launcher there's a staff that shoots fucking planets. I love the level design the enemies the music the lack of fall damage and the weapons are so cool. This is straight up one of the best first person shooters.

Masked Dancers

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright (3ds emulator) - 7/10

I was turned off by fates at release because of the pokemon multiple games same story gimmick, and I wasn't about to shell out 80 bucks on these games. Well now I've played fates on emulator and like most FE fans I think it's one of the worst. The story sucks but that's whatever I always skip all the story stuff in these games anyway. All the micromanaging skills and children and class swapping that I dislike from Awakening is back. This is just Awakening but worse in every way except maybe map design. Idk fun game, bad Fire Emblem is better than most games.
