08.12.21 | Big big album in the scheme of things. Really dug it and reverberated worldwide. Solos are classic too |
kkarron
08.12.21 | also boring |
Dewinged
08.12.21 | Damn, crazy concept list, but props dude.
I am gonna jam it this or next week, I heard a couple of tracks last week and it hasn't aged very well I feel, but it's the album that got me into drumming. |
DoofDoof
08.12.21 | I like this concept
This album still has something, must have played it a hundred times on cassette back in '91/'92 - quality was probably terrible by the end of a year, tapes degraded that much |
XyphDryne
08.12.21 | Sell it to William Basinski then. |
DoofDoof
08.12.21 | true, that would probably sound great loaded to Bandcamp now |
Donchivo
08.12.21 | Very disjointed album IMO, alltime classic iconic songs interchanging with boring snoozefests .
Biggest Metal album maybe and as such for sure an important album. But definitely not amongst most influential ones. Paranoid, The Number of The Beast, early Metallica, Reign In Blood and a few others were definitely more influential. |
rockarollacola
08.12.21 | MeTaLlIcA bAd!!!1!!
In all seriousness, this album is a borderline masterpiece. The production is absolutely immaculate. |
cold
08.12.21 | The God That Failed is G.O.A.T.
don't even |
kalkwiese
08.12.21 | Album is probably just a tad too samey, but it's full of great, catchy songs. I'm surprised the solo of The Unforgiven is so low. Are the other ones really that good? Gotta check |
TheNotrap
08.12.21 | When I first heard Enter Sandman I couldn't believe it was Metallica. Wherever I May Roam's and the first half of My Friend of Misery's solo are also my favorites leads. |
DDDeftoneDDD
08.12.21 | I really like this album |
DoofDoof
08.12.21 | Worst track on the album?
I actually like 'Don't Tread On Me' and 'Holier Than Thou' so usually I go for 'The Struggle Within'...but actually it isn't a terrible tune, just forgotten/forgettable.
'My Friend of Misery' plods a bit but has something, and then 'through the Never' is goofy but in no way awful.
Consistent album tbh |
JohnnyoftheWell
08.12.21 | bizarrely slightly underrated album despite huge overexposure. good shit.
worst for me has to be Through the Never, but agreed on both doof takes for the other two that flag a bit
best track has to be Wherever I May Roam yesyes? |
Titan
08.12.21 | Wherever I May Roam is easily my favorite song here. And this solo ranking actually looks close to my song ranking.
Love the opening riff to Holier as well....fucking heavy |
Donchivo
08.12.21 | I go with Enter The Sandman for best... the riff!!!, the build up, the solo. Especially in early 90s live versions, this has such an amazing energy... |
Friday13th
08.12.21 | Unforgiven is the best [2] |
DDDeftoneDDD
08.12.21 | Nothing Else Matters is mythic you bloody blasphemers. I mean it's such a fuckin easy road/pick biased by the bath we took from that song. But it's there for a reason yk |
TheSpirit
08.12.21 | I feel mostly indifferent towards this record as a whole, some songs I love, others are pretty uninspired for me BUT Bob Rock's production on this really changed the fucking game. |
el_newg
08.12.21 | yep one of the best sounding rock records of all time for sure |
AlexKzillion
08.12.21 | "Biggest Metal album maybe and as such for sure an important album. But definitely not amongst most influential ones. Paranoid, The Number of The Beast, early Metallica, Reign In Blood and a few others were definitely more influential."
I think this album is easily up there with those in terms of influence... even if that influence was mostly negative. Bands 30 years later are still putting out carbon copies of some of these songs |
evilford
08.12.21 | "bizarrely slightly underrated album despite huge overexposure. good shit."
What
Album is ok, every album they did prior is vastly superior |
TheSonomaDude
08.12.21 | yeah it's nowhere near underrated...it's the most successful rock album of all time. |
Muzz79
08.12.21 | One of the times I saw them they played Holier than Thou which was a treat. I also personally love the other thrashier song The Struggle Within. But each song is like a separate classic to me.
In terms of influence, this was such a gateway album for regular Joe’s, and young kids like me in ‘91. Definitely introduced me to heavier metal which has put me on a life long interest in this music |
Muzz79
08.12.21 | Yeah Bob Rock nailed this. Dr Feelgood wasn't a fluke |
