07.07.21 | I disagree with 2. They are much more than a rip-off |

07.07.21 | haa! Hard props for 1 man, love that album. |
JKing92
07.07.21 | I don't know if I'd entirely call Incubus a FNM ripoff (at least, not in the same way I'd call Godsmack an AIC ripoff). I'd say the Red Hot Chili Peppers influence is arguably just as strong (I also do hear a bit of Jane's Addiction in their sound, as well). |

07.07.21 | It's the first time i see someone compare Chevelle to Deftones.
I remember a few people use to call them a Tool clone in that he tried to emulate Maynards singing. |
Lasssie
07.07.21 | Isnt Faith No More a rip off of RHCP???? |
JKing92
07.07.21 | I would definitely agree with Veks that Chevelle sounds more like Tool than Deftones -- likely just a crossing of influences that leads many to the conclusion that they sound like Deftones.
And I don't know if I'd necessarily call FNM a RHCP knockoff -- while both were heavily informed by hip-hop (especially at the beginning of their respective careers), I always found FNM to be more prog-leaning than RHCP, who were nowhere near as metal-oriented and definitely emphasized their funk influence more. |

07.07.21 | If you think Dopethrone and Fanatics are Sabbath rip-offs, ainโt nothing anyone can do for you |
JKing92
07.07.21 | It could be worse. You could be me, the guy who thinks Opeth are just a knockoff of Tool, Rush, and King Crimson. ๐ |
DaveT0738
07.07.21 | Incubus > Faith No More |
Lasssie
07.07.21 | I dont think FNM are ripping off RHCP i just like the meme that Kiedis had them removed from several festivals or something if i remember correctly |

sonictheplumber
07.07.21 | sabbath were a diverse ass band who changed things up every album even into the 80s and 90s. when some assclown stoner doom band acts like theyre carrying on the legacy of sabbath id like to say theyre actually just carrying on the legacy of like, 4 or 5 sabbath songs from the first three albums |
sonictheplumber
07.07.21 | and i say that as a fan of the wizard but that genre is pretty much artistically bankrupt at this point |
MrSirLordGentleman
07.07.21 | I like doom metal but yeah, they only took a small part of Sabbath's sound |
sonictheplumber
07.07.21 | these days im pretty much strictly 80s/early 90s doom |
Avagantamos
07.07.21 | not really a band, but Richard Devine |

07.07.21 | I love how people think FNM was "heavily influenced by hip hop." Probably the same crowd that only heard Epic. |
bloc
07.07.21 | Gruesome |
JKing92
07.07.21 | Perhaps that wasn't the correct wording, but the fact that "Epic" has rapping shows that -- unless it was a joke song mocking rap music (which I sincerely doubt) -- they likely took a certain amount of influence from hip-hop (though I certainly hear more elements of post-punk and especially prog in their sound). |
heck
07.07.21 | "I love how people think FNM was "heavily influenced by hip hop." Probably the same crowd that only heard Epic."
you're being purposefully obtuse if you think FNM didn't have hip hop influences outside of that song. "influenced by hip hop" doesn't strictly mean rapping, but can include other things like percussion, production, and rhythm. Roddy cited Run-DMC as an influence and they literally sampled a Beastie Boys song on Midlife Crisis, for god's sake. |
JKing92
07.07.21 | I was actually trying to remember earlier today what Beastie Boys song was sampled on "Midlife Crisis." Shameful on my part that I didn't remember, considering how much I love the Beasties... |
