Brabiz 06.12.21	True, but I wanted to keep it to one album per band. As much as I do love Dirt, Tripod is my favorite
AngryLittleAlchemist 06.12.21	Tripod has one of the greatest closers of all time, great album so I can't complain about putting it over Dirt. I think I'd say Jar of Flies > Dirt > Tripod personally, though Jar of Flies is an EP.

JKing92 06.12.21	Props for Vs. and In Utero. My favorite albums by both bands. :-) Also love Purple, though I'd include Dirt and Superunknown in place of Tripod and Down On the Upside, respectively. But as always, that's just me.
Brabiz 06.12.21	I have heard sap, I just forgot it existed because I haven’t heard it in ages :( Superunknown is great as well, but I’ve always preferred Badmotorfinger personally. I can agree that Dirt is a more cohesive experience to sit through, and Tripod is kind of disjointed, but I also think Tripod is nothing but 10/10 tracks, and it’s basically just a compilation of all of my favorites. I’m probably biased because it was my introduction, and basically all I listened to until I graduated high school and actually checked out Dirt lol
zakalwe 06.12.21	Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream Again 90% of this site who weren’t even a scratch in their dads ballbag say ‘it’s not grunge’ Trust me, back when it was all happening it most definitely was ‘grunge’ and was top 3 among Nevermind amd Ten.

JKing92 06.12.21	It's interesting, for the longest time I didn't associate the Pumpkins with grunge, thinking of them instead as a shoegaze band. But looking back, Siamese Dream definitely had many elements of grunge (as indeed did Gish, as well as some songs on Mellon Collie, though to a far lesser extent than the first two).
Brabiz 06.12.21	I always saw them as a kind of grunge / psychedelic mashup, more in the vein of Screaming Trees or something. Never got into their later stuff though
JKing92 06.12.21	I definitely get the Screaming Trees comparison there. I also see a bit of a parallel with Soundgarden in that respect (primarily in the period between Badmotorfinger and Down On the Upside) in that while you could certainly trace elements of '80s hard rock, there was also a strong influence of '70s arena rock and psychedelia (though I'd say the chief distinction here is that I hear more Zeppelin and Sabbath in Soundgarden, while I hear Queen and even some Pink Floyd in the Pumpkins). I also agree when it comes to the later stuff. Just can't get into Adore or anything I've heard after it.
DoofDoof 06.12.21	I loved 11 at the time Purple is classic, the only ‘grunge’ albums I rate higher are ‘In Utero’, ‘Siamese Dream’, ‘Nevermind’, ‘Superunknown’, ‘Vitalogy’ and ‘Dirt’

Brabiz 06.12.21	I really wish I could get into Vitalogy. I won’t say it’s a bad album, but I was never a fan, and I straight up cannot stand anything after it. Which is frustrating because I love the first two albums to death

chemicalmarriage 06.13.21	Great list here. Have 2 on vinyl and have to say it is fucking awesome. Tad is the shit. As others have said pumpkins first two records are deserving. Great pick for pj best album, always has been my favorite although binaural is fantastic
