My Favorite Guitarists
just some of my favorite guitarists
and some of there best works |
1 | | The fall of troy Doppelg?ger
Thomas Erak use of effects is perfect and his complex voicing make for a creative entertaining mix. |
2 | | All That Remains The fall of ideals
Oli Herberts riffs and show stopping solos were perfect on this album. |
3 | | the mars volta Amputechture
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez had restraint on this album sure there are plenty of effects and jam moments but there is also calm and structure. |
4 | | Pat Metheny The way up
I think Pat is one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time and his playing and composition on this album are unsurpassed. |
5 | | Meshuggah Chaosphere
Fredrik Tordendahl is a master of odd time signatures. His riff remain brutal and precise. |
6 | | Sigur R?s Takk
The playing on this album is superb and anthem for the longing....
Jon Birgisson's continued use of a bow is not only inspiring but hard to copy.
The progression from his eairly work to the newer acoustic stuff shows he bleeds melody. |
7 | | Incubus Make Yourself
Make yourself spawned the greatest moment in guitar playing and the later acoustic remixes solidified that fact. Sure it's not his most technical work but this album showed he was one of the most creative guitarists in years.... look up his reworking of pardon me... it's pure beauty. |
8 | | Dream Theater When Dream and day unite
John Petrucci is the master of flash and function... after i heard this album i started practicing 6hrs a day. |
9 | | Mahavishnu Orchestra The Inner Mounting Flame
This is my favorite outing by John Mclaughlin. Truth be told it's his best work... |
10 | | Further Seems Forever Hide Nothing
Josh Colbert and Nick Dominguez were my favorite guitarists for so long. They bring a complexity to the pieces that I have not seen matched by any other duo in their genre. |
