03.22.21 | you know your movie is shit when you think adding more run time is a good idea |
Meridiu5
03.22.21 | this is one of the stupidest trends. movies should be 90mins long. aintnobodygottimeforthat.gif |
CaliggyJack
03.22.21 | short movies are lame |
TheAntichrist
03.22.21 | don't insult yourself like that |
Shuyin
03.22.21 | Yknow us comic book fans have no fucking life at all, the movie could be 4 days long and we would still watch that shit |
TheTripP
03.24.21 | I enjoyed the shit out of ZSJL honestly. The 4 hours goes by quick... plus people complain of it being 4 hours but binge a whole season of a show in one sitting so |
Emim
03.24.21 | Well you've got the 20min of slo mo, Batman hiking through the mountains for 10min, Scandinavian girls singing at Aquaman (and sniffing his shirt) for 5min, all those scenes with the Batwing thing that don't go anywhere, Steppenwolf telling Darkseid's secretary the same info 3 different times, Cyborg being like "MEET HERE NOW BITCH" and then telling her to leave him alone right after... It adds up.
Oh and don't forget Flash yoinking a weiner out of the air. |
TheTripP
03.24.21 | lmao that last part got me, at least everyone can admit it is superior to joss whedons cut |
WalrusTusk
03.24.21 | I agree with Aaron. I also broke it down into half, so I watched the first two hours last night (ending with Cyborg refusing the call and burying his Motherbox) and plan to watch the other two hours tonight. It's not just a better movie but a pretty exciting superhero movie. The hero moments feel like hero moments (that Flash scene is actually really touching) and Steppenwolf is actually a pretty terrifying villain with decent motivation. |
Storm In A Teacup
03.24.21 | I will never watch either version of this movie, and now Zack Snyder is trying to get attention for a third version that is black and white and has an alternate Jared Leto ending. Fuck off with all that. |
WalrusTusk
03.24.21 | You do you man. Snyder isn't for everyone. |
Emim
03.24.21 | I enjoyed the movie overall, but at no point did I feel it justified the length. |
TheTripP
03.24.21 | @Walrus the second half is better than the first imo so enjoy!
And there will already be a black and white version soon, same movie just an option.
I am just happy a director finally was able to show their vision rather received positively or negatively. |
WalrusTusk
03.24.21 | I agree. Synder gets so much shit it's nice to have the more positive reception out there, if for no other reason that to show that the dude had a vision and, when full recognized, it wasn't half bad. |
TheTripP
03.24.21 | Definitely, I appreciate his movies myself but I can see why people don't. Man of Steel is heavily underrated |
Storm In A Teacup
03.24.21 | You guys kind of have a weak point made because it is not like the original ZSJL was gonna be 4 hours long |
TheTripP
03.24.21 | Well true, but luckily that is what we got since the director was able to create his vision since he paid for whatever extra scenes he wanted added himself. |
Storm In A Teacup
03.25.21 | I've never heard of that being done by anyone before, pretty cool. Is it in theaters? |
twlight
03.25.21 | I've never seen any of DC films so i've been watching through them. Man of Steel, BvS ultimate edition and Aquaman so far, gonna be like 20 hrs of shlock to the face after its said and done |
SIIMBOLIC
03.25.21 | the prob with man of steel is it just blows its load to early. By the time superman has been thrown through the 236th building you stop caring cause none of it matters |
zaruyache
03.25.21 | snyder didn't pay for it himself, he just offered to do it for no pay. studio put down $70 mill to finish the post-production and film the epilogue scene. |
Storm In A Teacup
03.25.21 | Gross |
cordwainerbird
03.25.21 | i literally cannot imagine willingly wanting to watch an overblown 4 hour hollywood superhero movie |
cordwainerbird
03.25.21 | i love redlettermedia bc i never have to watch this or star wars or any other faux-art hollywood bs i just absorb it by osmosis. i dont knock ppl who enjoy this stuff bc i get it's popcorn entertainment but like. id really rather not |
cordwainerbird
03.25.21 | this is my psa to watch blade runner 2049 -- finest movie of the last decade and a much better use of *checks notes* 2 hours and 44 minutes. which is a good deal shorter than i remember + it has a reason for being long |
Shuyin
03.25.21 | "blade runner 2049 -- finest movie of the last decade"
Yesssssss! |
WalrusTusk
03.25.21 | @cordwainerbird I love RLM as well but you do realize that they watched this movie and gave it a good recommendation right?
I just finished the second half yesterday and... honestly it's pretty damn amazing. Does it hold a candle to some of the more dramatic superhero movies like the Dark Knight Trilogy or Joker... debatable. But the superhero moments were well managed (that flash part at the ending actually had a tear rolling down my cheek) and the threat is actually pretty terrifying. Stepphan Wolf doesn't just like a dude in cardboard armor and he has some motivation for what he's doing. One of the better superhero movies to come out over the past couple years. |
cordwainerbird
03.26.21 | @Shuyin YES i am high fiving u!!
@Walrus yea i get that (i watched the vid lol) but they spent most of it just complaining about studio meddling which is like, yea. way more interesting than the film itself (which is just like a fun superhero flick). keep in mind u are contextualizing ur compliments within the category of "superhero flick". i like superhero flicks that cease to be superhero flicks and just become art and ngl the only films that's done that is maybe like the fucking Incredibles and Spiderverse (not kiddin). The Crow too if u count that. highly-animated or mixed-media superhero movies/art are always way better because the "super-ness" is allowed to be exaggerated in a way thats cool and beautiful. u can even call The Matrix a superhero flick if u think about who Neo is, rly. that's how i see it anyway. one of my favorite games is Noctropolis so that should tell u more than enough how i feel about superhero media lmao |
TheTripP
03.30.21 | @walrus that flash part was one of my favorite moments in superhero cinema... so cool |
