Snake.
11.01.20 | not good until alt rock is officially off the chart |
Divaman
11.01.20 | I'm mostly happy with mine, especially now that I finally Blues off of my pie. |
LeddSledd
11.01.20 | prog rock and prog metal takes up over 50% of my pie, so yeah i basically have the best taste on sputnikmusic.com |
Ecnalzen
11.01.20 | Slowly workin alt rock down, methinks
I think it was closer to 30% at some point |
Emim
11.01.20 | It's pretty representative of my heavier taste, but not of what I listen to on the whole. These days it's probably 50% metal, 30% hip hop, and 20% of whatever strikes my fancy. |
Sinternet
11.01.20 | electronic master race |
MillionDead
11.01.20 | Mine is pretty accurate to my taste; I try to stay versatile. I miss having one more genre cause I feel like the last one would've been post-punk by now and that'd be cool lol. I kinda wish hardcore wasn't so front and center but I have probably spent more time listening to hardcore adjacent shit than anything else, so it's fair. |
ArsMoriendi
11.01.20 | I have no metal on my chart :D |
ArsMoriendi
11.01.20 | 19% Psychedelic
18% Experimental
14% Electronic
13% Progressive Rock
12% Indie Rock
11% Funk
10% Post Punk
Somehow lost my alt rock slice and post punk appeared
I kinda like how none of my slices are overwhelmingly high, it gives me the illusion that my taste is balanced

2. 16% experimental
3. 13% hardcore
4. 13% jazz
5. 12% post punk
6. 11% hip hop
7. 8% noise rock
I don’t know how accurate these actually are |
TheAntichrist
11.01.20 | if i listened to more hip hop albums instead of just a couple songs from a lot of different people, it would be on my chart for sure lol |

ArsMoriendi
11.01.20 | Can someone who has 80%+ metal on their chart explain to me why it's a good genre, I don't get it still |
MillionDead
11.01.20 | Well if you don't like shit to be heavy, then that's just your taste. Some of my favorite genres beat the piss out of my ears though. But even if I have a slight bias towards dark/heavy/weird stuff, I'm open to good songs however they manifest. @normaloctagon, I've listened to a fair bit of electronic. Not a ton. And I think Lordepots is pretty well immersed into it as well. |
Sinternet
11.01.20 | "I don't think anyone on this website listens to any electronic other than oneohtrix besides, like, ryus."

MillionDead
11.01.20 | Also, metal is super diverse. Within just black metal you can have some of the most nihilistic and harsh sounds known to man with one project, and relatively digestible, melodic folk sounds with another group. Metal is so very broad, I really feel like there is something there for nearly everyone and most who who aren't into it at all just haven't found the right sound for them yet. Some of it isn't that heavy, some of it is brutal, some is dissonant, some is really pleasantly melodic. |
LeddSledd
11.01.20 | Agreed, Million. I've found metal and heavy music in generally to be surprisingly broad in what it can offer as far as sonic and stylistic diversity |
ArsMoriendi
11.01.20 | "Well if you don't like shit to be heavy, then that's just your taste."
I like plenty of noise rock stuff and a bit of punk and industrial so I don't think that's it |
MillionDead
11.01.20 | A lot of it doesn't even have screams in it. And I've always been a sucker for the sound of heavy guitars and a lot of momentum/energy in songs, so being into metal just makes sense. |
TheAntichrist
11.01.20 | noise rock being heavy lmao |
ArsMoriendi
11.01.20 | I mean I wouldn't call it light so yes? Especially stuff like Lightning Bolt |

MillionDead
11.01.20 | Maybe the vocals? And I guess the style of guitar played in metal is a pretty specific taste too, though there are many sects, you know metal guitars when you hear 'em. And that noise rock can get harsh but metal is a different kind of heavy, usually more weighty and compressed. Same with hardcore adjacent stuff.
Actually a lot of noise rock bands can veer into metal/sludge metal territory. Like Couch Slut, Unsane, Cherubs, and Exhalants. I skimmed your ratings and the most brutal things I saw were Big Black and Melt Banana (GREAT bands btw), but they're like 7-8/10 heavy. Which there's scale breaking shit to listen to. Idk dude, the reason I think I like metal is cause I'm hyper attracted to that evil shit.
Plus, you have some positive Mike Patton ratings, and I'd call his stuff predominantly metal. |
widowslaugh123
11.01.20 | Yeah metal sucks |
MillionDead
11.01.20 | @widow: A lot of the stuff in your chart cross pollinates with metal quite a bit. Idk, if you can fuck with jazz, post-punk, and post-hardcore, I feel like Deathspell Omega offers a lot. It scratches those same itches for me. Oh and fucking maudlin of the Well and Kayo Dot are great. |
zaruyache
11.01.20 | mines wicked ye |
widowslaugh123
11.01.20 | I think I checked maudlin years ago but I’ll try again and listen to those others too |
LeddSledd
11.01.20 | 1. Nicki Minaj is not music, it's auditory garbage.
2. My music's not playing at a loud enough volume to bother you.
3. Fuck you, I can listen to Dragonforce whenever I damn well please! |

Avagantamos
11.01.20 | smh every death metal band getting tagged as prog metal also |
0xME
11.01.20 | the thing about sput and prog metal is the fact that every other band has the prog metal tag for no reason, so you are bound to get a lot of crossover even if you don't actually listen to prog
smh every death metal band getting tagged as prog metal also [2] this is so true it's not even funny |

11.01.20 | tbh i'm subjected to a lotta top40/adultcontemporary at my work.
best response i got on my old 2011era account was "Yeah [Bat], but this list is for sane people, 52% of your chart is Death Metal and the last three albums you rated were by a band called Cephalic carnage, Speaks for itself. -Puzzles" |

aydross121
11.02.20 | What I like about metal is the guitar tone usually. It's like electricity in music form in a dumb sense. |
Jots
11.02.20 | way too much “experimental” due to it being a catch-all for genres not in the database 😓 |
Pangea
11.02.20 | mine overrates my appreciation for ambient a lot but otherwise it's pretty good. Also the experimental tag is probably too high |
JesperL
11.02.20 | mine makes me seem like an annoying teenager so yeah quality stuff

Biggest surprise is perhaps BM being in there instead of Post Metal. I should investigate (or not).
Agreed with whoever said some noise rock stuff is heavier than a lot of metal, in fact some metal is actually quite tame. |
Demon of the Fall
11.02.20 | If everything wasn't labelled as prog or experimental I might have a little more variety in there (which would be nice). |
TheAntichrist
11.02.20 | i guess when bands make songs that are more than six minutes long, they get the prog label lol |

davezillaMP3
11.02.20 | Metalcore and Nu-metal are my two favorite genres, so i am okay with being sad (well if j-rock counted as its own tag then my pie chart would be 50% J-rock i think) |
