The Great 2020 RV Trip Take
Been traveling in the family RV for the last 6 weeks, hitting used CD stores from Alabama to Wisconsin and back. I started my hunting at 2nd and Charles in Anniston, AL with a big zero - nothing there of note. But as my travels progressed, I found some incredible finds along the way...in Lawrenceburg and Nashville, TN, in Baraboo and Brookfield, WI, and lastly in Indianapolis, IN. |
1 | | Paw Dragline
Visited David Crockett State Park up in Lawrenceburg, TN. Within 5 miles of the park, I found an Old Factory Flea Mall. One of the booths was where CDs from the 90's and early 2000's went to park. Found a CD single from the Paw - Dragline album with some choice b-sides. |
2 | | Skunk Anansie Post Orgasmic Chill
Found this as well. Funny enough, I had bought and sold this back in the day, and never ripped it. Decided to get it again - and it is pretty damn good nu metal. |
3 | | Thrice The Artist in the Ambulance
Always was a big fan of "Under a Killing Moon", but never had this album. Cool package, with each song having it's own card (similar to Pearl Jam's No Code booklet). |
4 | | Paramore The Final Riot!
The Old Factory Flea Mall had boxes of these blu-rays - for $1 each. Liked a few songs back in the day - decided to give it a spin. |
5 | | Ty Segall Lemons
Camped out in a campground to the east of Nashville. While there, had to visit Mckays of Nashville and get some Nashville Hot Chicken. Found this at McKays, along with the next CDs. |
6 | | Soilwork Figure Number Five
Passed this up on my first trip to McKays - but had to come back and get it. |
7 | | Spiritual Beggars On Fire
This album was new - still in plastic packaging - for < $5. Excited to hear it. |
8 | | Therapy? Troublegum
Found this in the scratched bin for $1. Been looking for a copy of this for a while. As well as the Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack - Volume 1, which I also picked up for $1. |
9 | | The Mars Volta De-Loused in the Comatorium
Also in the scratched bin for $1. Had never heard it - an awesome CD. |
10 | | The Mars Volta Amputechture
Also in the scratched bin for $1. Less awesome CD. |
11 | | Diecast Internal Revolution
Was in the mood for some Metalcore - around $1. |
12 | | Five Finger Death Punch And Justice for None
Picked up the deluxe version of this for $2. I know there are a lot of haters out there... |
13 | | Brant Bjork Somera Sól
A bit of a dry spell until I made it up to Baraboo, WI - staying at the Devils Lake Campground. A nasty, rainy week - but I found the Spin Shack - providing some of the best stoner rock finds of the trip. Including this album, and the next two. |
14 | | Solace Further
Hate to say it, but I favor this album of the sophomore "13"... |
15 | | Solace 13
...but both are quite great! |
16 | | Myles Kennedy Year of the Tiger
Also picked this up at the Spin Shack - a great album! |
17 | | Blue Man Group The Complex
Next went to the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. I had seen The Complex DVD and it was a fun watch. Was unprepared for what a great CD this is, minus the lame DMB track. |
18 | | Deftones Ohms
Got hard up for the new Deftones while at a campground in Racine, WI. Had this CD delivered from Amazon to a Family member. Yeah, not a used CD find, but still a great purchase. |
19 | | Kylesa Time Will Fuse Its Worth
Visited the Mega Media Exchange in Brookfield, WI. Always had a great selection in the past. Found a few great albums here, as follows... |
20 | | Hurt The Re-Consumation
One of my favorite bands - happy to find this. |
21 | | Element Eighty Element Eighty
A nice nu-metal find - had heard good things about this album. The vocals are a bit juvenile in spots, but the music hits hard. |
22 | | Operation: Mindcrime The Key
Much better than Sputnikers led me to believe - to me, much better than Queensryche's most recent albums (that sound as if they are trying to be Iron Maiden). |
23 | | Operation: Mindcrime Resurrection
Same here. |
24 | | The Hunger Devil Thumbs a Ride
Not a great industrial metal album, but a timepiece nonetheless. Also bought (for $1 each to reminisce) albums by Belly and That Dog, which are honestly a challenge to listen through. |
25 | | Mastodon Medium Rarities
Coming back down from WI, next stayed in the Indianapolis area. Hit up two The Exchange stores there. At the first store, bought this new and the next CD used. |
26 | | Oceansize Everyone Into Position |
27 | | Soilwork Verkligheten
At the second The Exchange, found a much better selection. Also had more time to look. Found this for $5, as well as the next used CDs... |
28 | | Cyhra Letters To Myself
Been meaning to pick this up - to support former In Flames members. Actually, a great CD. Not sure why this gets such hate on Sputnik. |
29 | | The Doors In Concert
Love the Doors - and Jim Morrison shines especially live. |
30 | | Voices from the Fuselage Odyssey: The Founder of Dreams
Was amazed to find this - have never seen this band at any other used CD store ever. The Exchange has one hell of a selection. Also bought a string tribute to NIN here for $1. |
31 | | Quicksand Slip
Had the best finds of the trip at McKays in Knoxville, TN. Hadn't been here in a while, so their stock had changed significantly. Had this on mp3, but had been looking for a CD copy for years. |
32 | | Leprous The Congregation
Same here - finally found a CD copy |
33 | | Haken Visions
McKays had quite the Haken selection - more than I had ever seen at any other used CD store. Picked up a few albums that I did not have... |
34 | | Haken Affinity
...irritatingly though, neither of the Haken CDs came with their booklets. Bummer. But I dig this CD more than the Mountain. Sorry Sputnik. |
35 | | Karma To Burn V
Had been looking for this for years now - if only for the Black Sabbath cover. Finally found it at McKays! |
36 | | Of Mice And Men Restoring Force
Also found this for $1 at McKays, as well as a Tribute to Faith No More! |
37 | | Blue Man Group Audio
Decided to pick up for $1 at McKays in the bargain bin, based on how great The Complex was. Not as good - but still a good listen. |
38 | | Decyfer Down Crash
Final purchase made at a small book store in Cosby, TN named "Our Place". Also picked up a sweet Metallica book - they had quite the number of band biographies and the like. |
