Slipknot Ranked

An unconventional Slipknot ranking, but I will stand my ground.

Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses

This album is a bore and a slog to get through, not a big fan of the production, tracks just come and go without much of note to be remembered. The album almost feels like a collection of B-sides, there are some memorable moments such as the energetic snare roll moment at the end of The Blister Exists and the singles. Before I Forget is one of the best Slipknot songs, but my lord, track 10 on this album, getting through basically 7 songs of monotony besides the great other singles to get to Before I Forget is agony.

3/5
Favorite Tracks: Duality, Vermilion, Before I Forget

.5: The Gray Chapter

.5: The Gray Chapter is what happens when Slipknot's arena rock formula goes wrong, there was not a lot on this album that recaptured the same AHIG feeling, a lot of tracks are forgettable, but there a few diamonds in the rough.

3/5
Favorite Tracks: Killpop, Nomadic, The Devil in I

Slipknot

The debuted self titled album by Slipknot is a great burst of energetic nu metal. Certainly one of the most interesting nu metal albums released at the time, the album is great fun, but I only find myself coming back to the singles a lot of the time.

Favorite Tracks: (sic), Wait and Bleed, Surfacing

We Are Not Your Kind

We Are Not Your Kind kind of recaptured that radio rock + brutal mode they had on AHIG quite well. Although I don't think this album was as good as that album, I do admire them for trying some new things such as on Spiders.

4/5
Favorite Tracks: Red Flag, Orphan, Not Long for This World

Iowa

The best their heavier side has to offer, a relentless album that pulls no punch. I can of course see why this is a lot of peoples tops, but just not quite for me personally.

4/5
Favorite Tracks: Left Behind, People = Shit, Disasterpiece

All Hope Is Gone

The first album by them that grabbed my attention, I do love almost every song on here. The reason I believe this to be their best is because it bridges the gap between their brutal side and their arena rock type side fantastically

5/5
Favorite Tracks: Vendetta, Snuff, Sulfur, Vermilion, Pt. 2 - Bloodstone Mix
