evilford's top 10 albums all-time

at dom's request. Ranked. This is hard enough w/o descriptions
1Meshuggah
Nothing (Re-release)

this album has grown on me a lot over time. Basically this album is the grooviest metal album of all time, and it riffs, and jens rules, fuck you if u disagree
2Pink Floyd
The Dark Side of the Moon

musically album is sweet. Thematically, I relate a lot to this album, with the themes regarding mental illness and the banality of daily life. Album got me thru a lot of dark times.
3Neurosis
Through Silver in Blood

Just edged out by meshuggah for best metal album ever (imo). So many crushing moments on this album. The tribal drumming in the title track really gets me blood pumping. And Aeon is probably my favorite song of all time, the ferocity mixed with the beauty of the orchestral sections is amazing. Also, Dave's vox rule and the end of strength of fates is the craziest shit ever recorded.
4ISIS
Oceanic

this album holds a special place in my heart. Probably the most emotional metal album ever recorded. found this in a small record store in Iowa City in college, bought it cuz I thought the cover was cool and instantly fell in love with the sound. Carry is a close pick for favorite song. Love this band to pieces. Also side note: best concert I've ever been to was an ISIS concert, also in college in Iowa City. Small, dark, hot and sweaty venue and they didn't even say anything, just kicked off with So Did We and fucking blew everyone away.
5Demilich
Nespithe

simultaneously the weirdest and best dm album ever recorded. Antti is a beast among men. Also this never gets old. I've jammed it probably 150-200 times and I still think holy fuck this rules every time I jam it
6Ulcerate
Everything Is Fire

this band/album has also grown on me a lot over the years. The celestial rage contained within this album is unmatched. These guys are geniuses of their craft, JSM is a crazy mfer on the kit and this album is easily one of my favorite metal albums.
7Pink Floyd
Animals

concept album by floyd, definitely my favorite non-metal album that isnt dark side of the moon. The bands' conceptual lyrics on this are top notch, and gilmour is an absolute monster on this. Guitar solo in pigs (three different ones) is my favorite guitar solo ever by far and that song is also close to being my favorite song.
8Incantation
Onward to Golgotha

one of the heaviest albums ever made, and one of the best dm albums ever. Craig pillard (despite being a total fuckwit) just demolishes the vocal performance here. Devoured death and blasphemous cremation are both top 5 dm songs.
9Gorguts
Obscura

probably my favorite band these days. Literally every album they've made is bonkers and this one is the best. Luc is my favorite figure in music and this album has riffs upon riffs and some of the best tortured wails ever (rip steeve). Not to mention being an experimental masterpiece.
10Neurosis
A Sun That Never Sets

also one of my favorite bands obvs, this rounds out my top 10. From the hill is probably the best song ever made. Some very heavy moments on this, like tsib, but also some beautiful softer parts. And some creepy parts that also rule. Stones from the sky closes out the album and kills too
