The Dillinger Escape Plan Ranked
7The Dillinger Escape Plan
Irony Is a Dead Scene

*Honorable Mention*

8/10

Very fun! You can tell Mike Patton was a eureka moment for the band, and Patton is clearly having a great time with them. Not the most essential TDEP release, but an important milestone nonetheless.
6The Dillinger Escape Plan
Ire Works

7/10

Every TDEP record is great, but this is their least great album in my book. There's a lot of filler in the middle of the album, and it's not sequenced well enough to warrant it. While there are some gems on this album ("Black Bubblegum", "Milk Lizard"), it's the only Dillinger record that feels like a stepping stone to something greater.

Highlights:
. Fix Your Face
. Black Bubblegum
. Milk Lizard
. Mouth of Ghosts
5The Dillinger Escape Plan
Option Paralysis

8/10

Option Paralysis shows The Dillinger Escape Plan melding their metal and non-metal influences a lot more cohesively than before. Billy Rymer was a wonderful addition to the band, and is, in my opinion, TDEP's best drummer (no offense Chris Pennie and Gil Sharone). The reason it's not higher is that it's not as unique as their other albums.

Highlights:
. Farewell, Mona Lisa
. Good Neighbor
. Gold Tooth On a Bum
. Widower
4The Dillinger Escape Plan
Calculating Infinity

9/10

Definitely their most fucked up record. TDEP went for the jugular on their debut, redefining the rules of metal and hardcore while leaving listeners alone in an eerie and violent atmosphere. Ben Weinman is a goddamn genius. While many would say this is their best, I found the lyrics to be too edgelord-y. Also, it doesn't feel right to call the only Dillinger LP without Greg Puciato the best TDEP release (CI features Dimitri Minakakis on vocals.)

Highlights:
. 43% Burnt
. Destro's Secret
. The Running Board
. Weekend Sex Change
3The Dillinger Escape Plan
One of Us Is the Killer

9/10

One of Us Is the Killer takes the lessons learned from Option Paralysis and streamlines it, yielding catchier and more immediate songs. Manages to be their most focused yet effortless sounding album. If "Prancer" doesn't make you immediately want to punch a hole in your wall, there's no hope for you.

Highlights:
. Prancer
. When I Lost My Bet
. Nothing's Funny
. Crossburner
2The Dillinger Escape Plan
Miss Machine

9.5/10

If you're new to Dillinger and you don't know where to start, Miss Machine is the perfect introduction. It features just about everything the band did well on Calculating Infinity while embracing the experimental elements that the band would later elaborate on. It's the first album with Greg Puciato and Liam Wilson, two members who are absolutely critical in expanding the range of the band. It's also their most straight up fun record, each member sounds like they're having the time of their life.

Highlights:
. Highway Robbery
. We Are The Storm
. Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants
. Unretrofied
1The Dillinger Escape Plan
Dissociation

10/10

The Dillinger Escape Plan's last gasp of air. Dissociation comes the closest to recapturing the atmosphere of Calculating Infinity but with more nuance, replacing CI's animosity with a thick air of desperation. Everyone is at the height of their powers here, especially Greg. This is, without a doubt, his best performance, managing to sound completely unhinged yet frightened of what he's capable of. "Surrogate", "Honeysuckle", & "Manufacturing Discontent" is the best three song run in Dillinger's entire discography.

Highlights:
. Limerent Death (Best TDEP song)
. Wanting Not so Much to as To
. Surrogate
. Honeysuckle
. Manufacturing Discontent
. Dissociation
