05.13.20 | So everything after the third album has not been your cup of tea, that is completely fine! |
tyman128
05.13.20 | 4>2>3=1>6>5>8=7 |
davezillaMP3
05.13.20 | That is not a bad ranking, so it seems "Innocence and Instinct" was the one a lot of people would put as their No. 1! |
tyman128
05.13.20 | yea, I have a lot of nostalgia with that album since I grew up with it |
IronGiant
05.13.20 | thought this was about king crimson :/ |
Emim
05.13.20 | Maybe I should give Of Beauty another shot. Didn't really hit me when it dropped. |
BenThatsMyJamin
05.13.20 | Thought this was a King Crimson list smh |
davezillaMP3
05.13.20 | what does King Crimson have to do with Red? |
davezillaMP3
05.13.20 | @tyman128 yeah, I do have nostalgia with that album as well
@Emim there is no harm in doing so, even if you end up holding the same opinion at the end of it. |
Lucman
05.13.20 | Release the Panic is good! But Declaration at top? I like your thinking. OBAR is 1 for me, but really this is a great ranking, just don't agree with those scores. |
davezillaMP3
05.14.20 | Its fine if you do not agree with the scores, if you like RtP, thats completely okay! It is great you can enjoy something I did not! Also thank you for liking the ranking and my number 1 pick! |
Snake.
05.14.20 | "what does King Crimson have to do with Red?"
lol oof |
Emim
05.14.20 | Dave you are just too wholesome for this site |
davezillaMP3
05.14.20 | @Snake King Crimson does not have an album called Red, unless we are talking about the Red colored one. unless King Crimson is a user?
@Emim Aww thanks! If I may ask, why would I be too wholesome? |
Emim
05.14.20 | Most of us are jaded and abrasive around here, lol |
BenThatsMyJamin
05.14.20 | "King Crimson does not have an album called Red"
are you sure about that? |
davezillaMP3
05.14.20 | @BenAThatsMyJamin oh never mind I see it, the cover was just not Red in any way, that is a bit confusing for me (and why i missed it glancing the first time)
@Emim yeah, ive noted that some people are pretty harsh and forgive me for being harsh but "music snobs" (which is fair, I mean, this is a music review site after all)
|
Demon of the Fall
05.14.20 | Good to see King Crimson have been mentioned precisely 6,000 times already (yeah I’m also here for that reason, whoops). |
BenThatsMyJamin
05.14.20 | @dave thats okay, its not like its considered one of the greatest albums of all time or anything ;) |
BenThatsMyJamin
05.14.20 | 1. Starless

05.15.20 | Yep, one of the best songs of all time for sure |
davezillaMP3
05.15.20 | I fixed the title, I hope that helps! |
Emim
05.15.20 | Have you seen them live? I saw them probably 4 years ago and they put on a great show. |
davezillaMP3
05.28.20 | no, I have never been to a full on concert sadly |
MxL0
12.06.20 | Innocence and EoS being that low is a crime.
I guess it is your opinion however. |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.06.20 | King Crimson [1234] gud thread |
davezillaMP3
12.24.20 | @Mx10 yeah I was never big on EoS, even back when the only thing i was allowed to hear was Christian music. |
ieatbabies795
12.24.20 | Never listened to anything after End of Silence
Red and Breaking Benjamin are pretty much decent radio hard rock |
parksungjoon
12.24.20 | >even back when the only thing i was allowed to hear was Christian music.
good god |
ieatbabies795
12.24.20 | Shit I remember I use to do the same thing and music by Slayer and Iron Maiden use to scare me lmaoo |
parksungjoon
12.24.20 | americans are so weird |
heck
12.24.20 |
Red have often been regarded as one of the better bands in the alt. Metal genre, due to their inclusion of strings and strong vocal performance from frontman Micheal Barns. After the release of the bands recent album, "Declaration", was released to universal critical acclaim. what better time time to revisit the rest of the bands catalog? |
davezillaMP3
12.25.20 | Yeah Park, that is what happens when you grow up in a religious upbringing. Sadly this means there was a time where I thought TFK was the hardest riffage ever. Thank goodness for J-rock (that was my first exposure to nonchristian music aside from a soundtrack album that did not age well)!
Also if you want to know the peak of C. metal cringe, These hearts (the first album, since I never listened to the second one back in the day). I thought that was the coolest thing ever at the time and I am so ashamed of it. It is a combination of one of the worst vocal performances (it sounds like he is clamping onto his groin, and then having to be pitch-corrected after that. the screams are not better, being one-note and overexaggerated like he is trying to talk to a baby.) and some of the easy-st easycore to have ever easycored. when you watch some of the interviews of these guys, it's clear that they have no identity or any form of a musical statement (as in anything they wanted to say about their music), their "track by track breakdown" was just the band saying "LOL FUNNY SONG TITLE XD" for 11 videos. I think one of the issues with a lot of Christian music is they feel exempt from criticism because "well it's Christian therefore you can't criticize it" but it's like when you do that, you greatly lower the standard (ending this here before i go all in with my problems on a lot of Christian music.)
Yes heck, I used the new album as a chance to hear their whole discography when I made this list.
Also, Merry Christmas! |
Emim
12.25.20 | If you want cringe, then Plus One is for you. They were a boy band and it has not aged well. |
ieatbabies795
12.25.20 | Good thing I know now that god doesn’t exist and I don’t have to worry if my music is blasphemous |
Rammbrecher
12.25.20 | Gone and Until We Have Faces are both of my favorites. |
heck
12.25.20 | band is just skillet's slightly less mentally handicapped little brother |
MxL0
12.26.20 | How do you hear Lost and go "eh, albums okay" ????????? @dave
This band proved Christian rock music doesn't have to be preachy and can have actual quality outside of "OH MAN I REALLY LIKE THAT 12TH LINE ABOUT JESUS!!!!"
After Declar I'm excited for what they're gonna make next. Too bad the pandemic ruined that album's steam a little, hopefully they release a deluxe edition to reignite some interest. |
heck

MxL0
12.26.20 | Is that supposed to be ironic or?
I don't really care either way for the record, but if its criticism then be constructive lol |
davezillaMP3
12.27.20 | I just found the album did not age entirely well and had a few good songs with the rest of it being fine and from an album that is pretty weak when compared to their rest of discography. There were other bands that have done that before RED (the not being preachy thing). |
davezillaMP3
12.27.20 | @Emim oh yeah plus one, but does Family Force 5 top them in cringe? |
MxL0
12.27.20 | Well yeah, I wasn't saying RED was the first ever band to do write lyrics like that, I just mean they provided a solid example into the mainstream market as "proof". I phrased that poorly my b.
I dunno, I find EoS easily better than Faces, Gone, RtP, even OB&R. There was such emotion and deep, dark sense of loss or anguish throughout the entire album and it was really beautiful. Maybe not the first band to do orchestral metal stuff, but they did it well, esp for a debut album |
Rammbrecher
12.27.20 | I got into RED as a Christian, and I'm now an agnostic. One of the things I've consistently loved about them is the passion they pack into their music, while managing to appeal to an extremely wide audience. |
