| Top 10 Favorite Films of 2010s (6 honorable menti) | 16 | | Neurosis Enemy of the Sun
Honorable Mention 6: Logan | 15 | | Neurosis Souls at Zero
Honorable Mention 5: Green Room | 14 | | Neurosis A Sun That Never Sets
Honorable Mention 4: Get Out | 13 | | Neurosis The Eye of Every Storm
Honorable Mention 3: The Lobster | 12 | | Neurosis Through Silver in Blood
Honorable Mention 2: The Handmaiden | 11 | | Death The Sound of Perseverance
Honorable Mention 1: The Grand Budapest Hotel | 10 | | Death Symbolic
The Wolf Of Wall Street - Scorsese, kicking ass for four damn decades in a row! Although this doesn't reach the heights of his 70s-90s career, this is still an unbelievable achievement. Only this man can make a 3 hour epic about some of the most abhorrent bastards of our time and make us laugh throughout the entire runtime. Also, shoutout to the Irishman. | 9 | | Death Individual Thought Patterns
Mandy - It's basically a heavy metal movie with coked out Nicholas Cage battling junkie Cenobites in his underwear with a rainbow lens. What the fuck is not to love here? | 8 | | Death Human
The Nice Guys - The wit. THE WITTTT. But for real, this dialogue is out f this world. One has to wonder what happened with The Predator. | 7 | | Death Spiritual Healing
Mad Max: Fury Road - A flawless action film from an amazing filmmaker. The cinematography, massive practical action set pieces, character designs, the color pallet and the general dystopian atmosphere just fucking kicked my ass all over the place. This and John Wick are the two best drinking games of the decade. | 6 | | Death Leprosy
I, Tonya - Ok, fine, the style is a total Scorsese rip off. But also, I don't care. This is one of the few movies I have seen in my lifetime that has made me rethink an entire historic event that I had already made my mind up on. I found myself reading the actual event, watching real life interviews on YouTube, and talking to people about this for the next month or two after seeing this movie. That should tell you how much of an impact this film had on me. | 5 | | Death Scream Bloody Gore
Before Midnight - I do think that the previous two films are necessary viewing to totally understand why this one is so impressive, but I would argue that these two leads are some of the deepest characters in the entire romance genre. These are more like plays than movies, so it is only for a certain type of audience, but it is incredibly rewarding if it is your type of thing (even when it is devastating). | 4 | | Agalloch Marrow of the Spirit
Lighthouse - I still don't think that I fully comprehend all of what Eggers meant for me to take in with this film, but that is what makes it so fascinating. This is one of those movies that is so haunting even when you don't know exactly what is happening. Two of the best performances I have seen all decade, combined with filming techniques (the frame rate, the black and white, etc) that bring me back to an era of filmmaking I wasn't alive to appreciate. | 3 | | Agalloch Ashes Against the Grain
Hereditary - This is really tied with The Witch for me, but for completely different reasons. It's a shame that some people I know brush this off as just a horror film because outside of Six Feet Under, this film captures the horror of grief in a way that is uncompromisingly pure and honest, without ever going totally over the top (like some of Lars Von Trier's lesser films). That...and the horror is awesome. This one deserves all of the praise. | 2 | | Agalloch The Mantle
The Witch - I hope people don't overlook how impressive the authenticity of the dialogue is for the time period, but it is truly astounding. All of the actors (kid actors included) deliver these lines with a naturalness that is truly astonishing. The slow, deliberate pace combined with the bleak atmosphere and appropriately vague lore make this film feel more like a classic short story than a movie in 2019. One of my favorite horror movies of all time. | 1 | | Agalloch Pale Folklore
Moonlight - This is one of the most masterful films I have ever seen. The most realistic acting I have seen since The Wire and more emotional purity than any film I have seen this decade. Seriously, this is the only film to make me tear up in an open theater, and not from some Oscar bait bullshit. I've only seen this film about once a year since it has come out, but each time I view it gets richer. | |

12.04.19 | So I just spent the past 45 minutes typing up a description for all of these, only to have them get deleted when submitting and forgetting to add in the actual albums. I will type them up again later, but ugh, kill me now. | Minushuman24
12.04.19 | Green Room, Whiplash, Fury Road, Scott Pilgrim, and probably Django would make up my top 5.
But god damn that is a solid list | DarkSideOfLucca
12.04.19 | Fuck yeah, man!
Also, tried to rewrite some of it. Will get to writing honorable mentions later. | Let
12.04.19 | Gotta watch 1 still, I thought the Witch was drab nonsense but The Lighthouse got me shook. Bested my previous fav of Blade Runner 2049 | ramon.
12.04.19 | Lists got the witch, the handmaiden, and the lighthouse on it so it gets a pos from me, go watch the suspiria remake and subsequently add it to this list pls! | Aerisavion
12.04.19 | Green Room is such a blast.
Way too soon to loose Yelchin.. | Josh D.
12.04.19 | "This is one of the few movies I have seen in my lifetime that has made me rethink an entire historic event that I had already made my mind up on. "
The movie made her seem like a victim, so I hope that's not what you changed your mind to...
Good picks though, I feel like Hereditary gets slightly hot-taked by people? Or maybe I just like it a lot more than some people I've heard from. I haven't seen all of these, but out of the list I'd have Get Out in the 10 ahead of at least one. | DoofDoof
12.04.19 | 6 did nothing for me.
Mandy all the way, nice | DarkSideOfLucca
12.04.19 | @John - Well, no I didn't see her as a blameless victim in the Nancy case, but at least more of a person who suffered a lifetime of abuse herself, which is pretty well documented.
That doesn't mean that she's as innocent as the film presented, but still. | Jamdbz
12.04.19 | dang I need to see Moonlight still. Thanks for the reminder | tectactoe
12.04.19 | Man, our film tastes do not align at all haha (only two of 'em make my Top 100 of the Decade). But nice list & write ups regardless! Always like to see a fellow cinephile around these parts. | Clumseee
12.04.19 | Before Midnight and Moonlight definitely make mine. The Witch is probably the next closest. | Josh D.
12.04.19 | my name is JOSH you son of a bitch
anyway, I can agree with that | DarkSideOfLucca
12.04.19 | Oh shit, my bad Josh lol
@tect - I'd love to see your list, dude!
@Jamdbz - Watch that shit ASAP man | tectactoe

Our overlap is THE WOLF OF WALL STREET and BEFORE MIDNIGHT. Great films, especially the latter (which is also my favorite of the trilogy). | butt.
12.11.19 | just now seeing this. very solid! glad to see 2 and 3 so high. Green Room would be a personal top 5 for me | DarkSideOfLucca
12.11.19 | Hell yeah dude! I also like 2 and 3 ahaha
Green Room rules so hard - I wanted all of my honorable mentions to make the top 10 so badly, it hurt to exclude them. Oh shit, also Black Swan | butt.
12.11.19 | Mandy kicks ass too. Never heard of Before Midnight tho | DarkSideOfLucca
12.11.19 | Fuck yeah Mandy m/
Before Midnight is awesome. The first two are really great too, but the first film is basically a straightforward romance story tbh | Clumseee
12.11.19 | ^ Agreed. The each movie get better and better. | Josh D.
12.11.19 | Mandy always seemed like it was cool for the action and visuals, but I still don't get the FILM hype behind it.
Never seen the Before movies, don't care either. Got it? | DarkSideOfLucca
12.11.19 | You don't care because you don't know how to love : - (
And Mandy is a pretty straightforward story, but similarly to Fury Road - the atmosphere, the unique world and characters, how it's filmed, the general insanity of it, the music, etc | Josh D.
12.11.19 | I'm just not a big movie person tbh. But yeah, seeing Nic Cage do a bunch of drugs and then go slaughter bad guys in neon light is pretty rad. | DarkSideOfLucca
12.11.19 | "seeing Nic Cage do a bunch of drugs and then go slaughter bad guys in neon light is pretty rad."
Tbh I'm still kinda mad that this doesn't happen in every movie | tectactoe
12.11.19 | Everyone needs to peep MARRIAGE STORY before they finalize their Best-of-the-Decade film lists. It instantly cracked my Top 15. | budgie
12.11.19 | hmm i'm a bit bummed out from this list haha | DarkSideOfLucca
12.11.19 | Marriage Story was fucking amazing dude. I'm also seeing Uncut Gems this weekend, hoping that's as amazing as I think it's going to be (I'm a huge fan of Good Time). | DarkSideOfLucca
12.11.19 | Mah b budg |
