Expressing Their Inner Layne Staley

Layne's Staley's voice, bridging the late 1980's with early 1990's grunge vocal stylings, is a difficult voice to replicate. However, the following bands/vocalists have "pulled out their inner Layne Staley" quite effectively.
1Jerry Cantrell
Degradation Trip Volumes 1 & 2

Surprise, Surprise. Jerry Cantrell sound like Layne Staley? Certainly, and his solo albums are the closet one can come to AIC without being AIC.
2Godsmack
The Other Side

Early Godsmack was incredibly AIC influenced. This EP reminds me of Jar of Flies and Sap, is one of my favorite Godsmack releases.
3Dust For Life
Dust For Life

The dual vocalist harmonies with this band get really close to the Layne Staley/Jerry Cantrell combo.
4Black Label Society
Hangover Music Vol.6

There is something about Zakk Wylde's voice that has that Layne Staley feel.
5My Sister's Machine
Diva

There are so many similarities between early AIC and this grunge band.
6Drain STH
Horror Wrestling

These lovely ladies harmonize and sing throughout in their inner Layne Staley.
7Kill Devil Hill
Kill Devil Hill

Vocalist Dewey Bragg certainly has a Layne Staley tinge to his voice.
8U.P.O.
No Pleasantries

Some nice Layne Staley esque vocals
9Dropbox
Dropbox

Starting from the second song (See I Feel Fine), the Layne Staley influence really shows
10Drowning Pool
Full Circle

Ryan McCombs pulls out his inner Layne Staley on songs like Reborn and Paralyzed
11Staind
14 Shades of Grey

Check out the tribute song "Layne"
12Neurotica
Neurotica

Something in either the vocals or the stylings resemble AIC. Check out vocals in the song "All My Friends Crush You".
