| Spooky Franchises ranked | 1 | | Slayer Show No Mercy
Evil Dead - Straight up, the best there is. All three films are goddamn classics. The remake is also quite awesome, despite the flaws. EVEN THE TV SHOW RULES! Hail to the king, baby. | 2 | | Slayer Hell Awaits
A Nightmare on Elm Street - Now this doesn’t have the most amount of amazing movies in the franchise, but the dream elements make even the bad entries rather interesting due to the dream concept. Also, Robert Englund is so charismatic that even the shlocky Nightmare films are infinitely more entertaining than other horror shlock. Dream Warriors and New Nightmare are classics tho < 3333 | 3 | | Slayer Reign in Blood
Romero’s “of the Dead” - Three perfect films. I don’t love this as much as Nightmare, but technically this is more perfect. Some of the best gore effects ever, very interesting political messages, great characters, etc. | 4 | | Slayer South of Heaven
Scream - All four movies are fucking awesome. Yes, even 3 despite it’s obvious flaws. Wes Craven directing all 4 movies made this series damn near perfect, which is a rarity in the genre. | 5 | | Slayer Seasons in the Abyss
Alien - The first two are so classic that it elevates this series to the top 5, but 3, Resurrection, and the prequels really knock this down from spot #1. Tbh this should probably be lower, but the first two made me love the universe so much that I sometimes fool myself into thinking I’m interested in aspects of the newer entires. Also lesser entires like Prometheus still have very interesting ideas and amazing creature designs sprinkled in there. | 6 | | Metallica Kill 'Em All
Child’s Play - Much like Robert Englund in the Nightmare series, Brad Dourif makes even the bad entries of this series relatively enjoyable. The first two movies are some of my favorite slasher flicks of all time, and Bride of Chucky is one hell of a good time. I sort of wish Seed of Chucky didn’t exist, though. | 7 | | Metallica Ride the Lightning
Friday the 13th - This may not be the best quality, but goddamn we’ve got quantity, baby. So many stupidly enjoyable films here. Continuity be damned! | 8 | | Metallica Master of Puppets
Halloween - Now, as an individual movie, the first one is one of my favorite films of all time. Infinitely better than any of the Friday the 13th films, for example. The second entry is also fucking incredible imo, although way more flawed. The 2018 film, while also flawed, had moments or brilliance. That being said - 3 is fine, 4 is not great, 5, 6 and Resurrection fucking suck and so do the remakes. Not the best track record for a series. It’s still a classic and definitely deserves this spot on the list, but the boring movies in this series don’t have the charisma, humor or overall enjoyment of some of the lesser entires in other franchises to save this. | 9 | | Metallica ...And Justice for All
Psycho - This kind of follows the same pattern as Halloween and Alien. The first movie in the franchise is one of the greatest films ever made, and the second one (while not being classic status) is a really great follow up. 3 and especially 4 bring this series down a bunch as a franchise. At least Anthony Perkins is always great. | 10 | | Megadeth Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
The Omen - If we just pretend like part 4 doesn’t exist, then this is an very solid trilogy. The third one isn’t the best, but it’s not bad at all. | 11 | | Megadeth Rust in Peace
Honorary mentions: Final Destination & Saw - These are dumb fun. Saw sometimes thinks it’s smarter than it actually is, which can be pretty detrimental to the series. The insane amount of planning, engineering mastery and sheer luck it would take for this series to make any bit of sense is laughable, and the fact that the movies don’t appear to be in on how insane this all really is kind of ruins some of the fun for me. That being said, they are sometimes surprising and the traps can get very creative. Jigsaw also does sound pretty damn creepy and that really gives this series the extra push it needs. Final Destination know’s it’s stupid and has fun with it. The quality of the movies never reach “great” status but they are consistently fun as fuck. | |

02.10.19 | "Alien and Psycho win because those are the only ones with good films."

02.10.19 | Lol. | EphemeralEternity
02.10.19 | Where in the cuntkicker is Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
That's arguably the most classic of them all, and has the most genuinely scary premise.
I've been to it's filming location in Texas, with the number of dilapidated farmsteads and weird incestuous folks and shit I wouldn't be surprised if this exact scenario has played out irl. | DarkSideOfLucca
02.10.19 | @Eph - Yeah, the first Texas Chainsaw is one of my favorite horror films of all time. I know that the second one has it's following, but to me that just ruins everything that made the first one scary and it just gets worse from there so I didn't include it as a franchise. The remake was fine, but that was really it. | EphemeralEternity
02.10.19 | I mean fair enough, I’m in the minority who think that the 2003 and especially 2006 remakes are killer (thanks to r lee ermeys villainy and gritty aesthetic) and better than any of these other remakes besides maybe evil dead. I wasn’t a fan of the halllween remake despite the ovation it received either | EphemeralEternity
02.10.19 | Oh yeah number 3 or 4 where leatherface is a transvestite iirc is basically a comedy.
Actually that reminds me a new instalment called ‘leatherface’ came out last year but never bothered with it. The trailer looks like complete shit and it got atrocious reviews so it could be ok | DarkSideOfLucca
02.10.19 | Yeah Leatherface is supposed to be impressively awful lol | Rowhaus
02.10.19 | Yeah the TCM remake was awesome | BAT
02.10.19 | romero trilogy and friday the 13th ftww. like every other series, i haven't seen the evil dead remake lol. final destinations fun annd the first 4 saw movies are pretty solid aswell, costas mandylor kinda killed that series for me. gotta give a shoutout to phantasm, highly recommended. i also kinda love the resident evil movies | DarkSideOfLucca
02.10.19 | Oh fuck yeah, Phantasm series also rules. I knew I was forgetting something. | Rowhaus
02.11.19 | let's keep sputnik spooky | Hawks
02.11.19 | “Alien and Psycho win because those are the only ones with good films.”
Shut. The. Fuck. Up. Alex. | J() Alexander
02.11.19 | | TheGreatQ
02.11.19 | I almost asked where Hellraiser was and then remembered there’s more than two movies. | BAT
02.11.19 | hellraiser 3 has its moments. hellraiser in space is pretty bad, hellraiser 5 i think was the detective one and it sucked. the one with the hellraiser mmo was trash. and oh yeah hellraiser 9 looks like its shot on a brazzers set | DarkSideOfLucca
02.11.19 | I considered Hellraiser, but then I remembered that had the most amount of fucking atrocious movies in any franchise I can think of lmao | budgie
02.18.19 | i really liked the first two of the blind dead but i admittedly havent seen 3 or 4
btw lucca check out Beast (2017) if you havent. its on shudder. super dope, reminded me of sightseers & double date a bit. |
