My Favorite Nordic Metal

Excluding Sweden (see prior list), these are my favorite metal bands from Finland (#'s 1, 2, and 5), Denmark (#'s 3 and 4), and Norway (#6). Note that I, unfortunately, am not familiar with any metal bands from Iceland. Also, this list does not include bands from The Netherlands.
1Nightwish
Endless Forms Most Beautiful

Seriously, is there a better Finnish band than this? I honestly don't think so. It doesn't matter what vocalist they currently sport (i.e., Tarja, Annette Olzon, Floor Jansen), Nightwish are in a league of song crafting all of their own. And Marco Hietala's vocals bring it all together so damn well.
2Apocalyptica
Apocalyptica

Been listening to this band since their album "Plays Metallica by Four Cellos"...and how far they have come since then up to Shadowmaker. Recently picked up their self-titled CD at a 2nd and Charles, which nearly completes my collection (just missing Reflections). Another incredibly strong Apocalyptica album (with drums to boot).
3Volbeat
Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies

I am a late Volbeat convert. Saw them live a decade ago and thought they were fairly lame...just didn't dig the metal/1950's rock vibe. Fast forward to around 2016, I decided to pick this CD up used on a whim. Wow, this CD is beyond words (along with Beyond Hell/Above Heaven). Consider me converted...
4Boil
aXiom

Not sure too many have heard of this band. Check them out, both this album and "A New Decay". The albums are a fine strain of progressive alternative metal, with both albums quite different from eachother.
5HIM
Love Metal

Wouldn't be a prudent Nordic list without His Infernal Majesty. One of the more unique nordic bands...developed their own genre really.
6El Caco
Viva

A stoner rock classic from 2001. Although obviously influenced by the tone and wall of sound of Kyuss; this album is solid and a great listen all the way through.
