The finale had one of the coolest moments I've seen in any comic show/movie tbh @bloc - it came out Friday, I just binged it. Will probably rewatch it with my friends sometime after Halloween. It fucking rules, which is something I needed after the past several shitty Netflix seasons. As of now, this is my favorite season - I really hope Punisher season 2 takes that place, though. @necro- Ah, that's good news. Canceling Luke Cage and Iron Fist has made me worried about this universe.

artiswar 10.22.18	I'm halfway through S3 and really impressed. S2 started very strong but shit the bed in the second half. I'm so glad the show is back on track and doing what it does best: Focusing on Vincent D'Onofrio and doing long hallway fight scenes.
SitarHero 10.22.18	Daredevil consistently smokes the other Marvel shows for 3 reasons: 1. Better villain(s). 2. Better secondary characters. 3. Much MUCH better action. Holy shit. Only Punisher comes close.

artiswar 10.23.18	I was really into Jessica Jones too for like 5 episodes before it got really stupid. Like all of the Netflix marvel shows are pure trash imo. Daredevil had a rough patch but it's always been 100 miles ahead of its contemporaries. They're taking material that was attempted on film years ago to horrible effect, and actually doing it justice. It's remarkable really. I'm a bit biased because I'm bored senseless by superhero shit but this shit is goooooood.
XingKing 10.23.18	Daredevil is the crowning achievement of the MCU, IMO. And yes, that Karen/Fisk scene was so unbelievably intense. I had to rewatch it a few times before moving on because Karen's metaphorical knife twisting was so. fucking. satisfying.

DarkSideOfLucca 10.23.18	@Xing - Daredevil is definitely the best, but I actually really enjoyed the Punisher a lot. I know people gave it shit, but I fucking loved it. First half of Luke Cage season 1 ruled, Jessica Jones pacing was shit but I thought it had a lot of great moments and a phenomenal villain, and all of Iron Fist was terrible. @art - yeah those subplots of Jessica Jones were REALLY rough lol. I mean I guess I'm not superhero fatigued because I spent my entire childhood in the 90s and early 2000s dreaming of a world where we would have movies like Iron Man, Avengers, Dark Knight, Logan, this Daredevil series, etc where most of these characters are actually given justice on screen so as long as they do them justice I'll probably never get bored of the genre @Sitar - Tier 1 for me is DD season 1 and 3 and The Punisher. Jessica Jones, DD Season 2 and first half of Luke Cage are tier 2 - dont give a fuck about the rest
SitarHero 10.23.18	Artiswar nailed DD2. The first half with The Punisher was great but it got really boring after that. Luke Cage 1 was great until they killed off Cottonmouth because he was the most sympathetic villain/antihero (until that point, even moreso than Fisk) and it really did bring out the conundrum of a hero who is really good at punching stuff facing problems that he couldn't simply punch. Then they killed him off and replaced him with that fucking Diamondback dude.

XingKing 10.23.18	The flashback portion of Karen is actually one of the only real missteps of season 3 for me. I have no problem with learning more about Karen and it was a compelling story, but I do have a problem with an extended flashback absolutely ruining the beautifully crafted momentum the season had built up until that episode. I'm not sure where the flashback would have been better placed, but it sure as hell should not have been placed where it was.
dimsim3478 10.23.18	i loved this new season but it wasn't thaaaaat good y'all. tons of unnecessary bs but the main conflict was strong enuf to keep it together right up to episode 12 (last episode was pretty shaky but stuck the landing more or less). "Dex is also a fucking compelling-ass villain." actor did a good job but they built dex's entire arc on his childhood trauma and 1) that trauma was shallow to the point of being meaningless (like oooooh his parents and therapist died and that makes him craaaaazy ooooooh so deeeeep) and 2) that trauma was portrayed onscreen in a flat and distractingly pretentious manner (fisk walkin thru the flashback + that one scene with the two spotlights made me lol). like fisk in comparison is not that deep of a character but his portrayal is so immediately distinct and his childhood flashback was pretty memorable. i will say that dex's particular issues made for decent plotting, though; like how he manages to get on decent footing with julie so the audience gets just a little glimpse of hope before it's unceremoniously ripped away (would've liked to see more of dex and julie, just to get a bit more of a dramatic build towards his inevitable downfall). shouts out to ray for being a pretty compelling secondary character; too bad they didnt give him a sendoff in the final episode and instead gave the obligatory funeral sequence to that priest guy also totally worth highlighting that little "woman in refrigerator" detail ;)

Rowan5215 10.23.18	"that trauma was shallow to the point of being meaningless (like oooooh his parents and therapist died and that makes him craaaaazy ooooooh so deeeeep)" I think you kinda missed the point here my dude, it's made pretty clear he was just a psychopath before any of that even happened and all the subsequent stuff just taught him the skills to hide that side of him in public. like the way he integrates the "i'm sorry that must be really hard" into his life is pretty goddamn unnerving. it's an anti-origin story where the traumatic events aren't a catch-all explanation for it all and I like that "shouts out to ray for being a pretty compelling secondary character; too bad they didnt give him a sendoff in the final episode and instead gave the obligatory funeral sequence to that priest guy" he was a great character but his testimony forms the backbone of like the entire last episode. the priest was a) a father figure to Matt his entire life and b) a character since season 1, they kinda did the obvious thing there

Divaman 10.23.18	My only real problem with the series (and I understand that for economic reasons it can't be helped) is the shared universe problem. We've already established that these characters don't exist in a vacuum. So if this were real life: 1. If Karen believes she is going to be hunted down and killed by Kingpin, doesn't she try to find some way to contact her other friend, Frank Castle, for help?; 2. If Foggy believes he is in danger of being assassinated, doesn't he maybe try to hire his new bulletproof buddy Luke Cage to kind of stand next to him when he's giving press conferences, etc.?; and, of course 3. When everything is going to shit, and Daredevil thinks he and the people that he loves will probably be killed, doesn't he reach out to the rest of his friends in The Defenders, and say, "Hey guys, guess what? I'm not dead, but I could really use some help."?
TheNotrap 10.23.18	I've been watching Season 1 these last few weeks and I've been enjoying it. The fight scenes are pretty cool and the characters are well-crafted. Good casting.

ExhaleTheLight 10.23.18	Honestly the only shared universe I would like to see consistent are Punisher and Daredevil's worlds. Both characters are synonymous with each other in the comics so why can't we have that same consistency on TV.

There were many scenes (especially involving Karen) where I was thinking "Wait, where the fuck is Frank in this scenario?" Also, his little thing with Kingpin in season 2 of DD when he was like "the next time I see you, one of us is not walking out alive" or whatever. They built that up perfectly for a confrontation here. It makes no sense.
ExhaleTheLight 10.23.18	That callback to season 2 of DD with Fisk and Castle pretty much means Fisk will turn up during season 2 of Punisher at some point I hope.

Season 2 of DD and season 1 of the Punisher basically kept hammering home that Frank has some obsession with her - if she was in as much danger as she was throughout season 2, it doesn't make any sense that he wouldn't have stepped in and gone on a massive killing spree to protect her.

Divaman 10.23.18	It's a small complaint, though. I really loved DD Season 3, and the climax in episode 13 was pretty great.

Loved every minute of it, I just missed my boy Frank and thought that considering the characters involved, this would have been the perfect opportunity for him to jump in. But alas. Also yeah, the climax of ep 13 was the coolest shit I've ever seen.
artiswar 10.23.18	I love the fact that he doesn't have the costume for an entire season, and he doesn't even wear it this season. Same goes with Punisher. A lesser show would just have them in their outfits right away but they actually tie the costumes in thematically and make them relevant to the story which is some next level shit. And Dex reminds me a lot of The Red Dragon from the final season of Hannibal. If any of you haven't watched it, it's basically the best show of all time. Anyway, I have 2 episodes to go so thanks for not spoiling me too much guys.

And American Gods is super frustrating because it's aesthetically brilliant and has moments of genius but just doesn't work as a whole and I find the majority of the characters really unlikable. The show just has no heart, it just feels really cold and clinical in a way Hannibal never was.

dimsim3478 10.24.18	"it's an anti-origin story where the traumatic events aren't a catch-all explanation for it all and I like that" you're right from a plot-analysis point-of-view but i'm speaking to how interesting bullseye was as a character, and how much his backstory added to the character. so i stand by my contention that 1) the flashback failed to make the character more interesting/distinct and 2) it was boring in itself. the backstory did set up a lot of character traits for dex that helped to drive the plot, but that didnt make the character more interesting. in the end, the character of dex just felt as simple as "he's a psycho", or at best, "he's a psycho that's tryna hide it" (which also isnt that interesting). like they could have just portrayed him as "he's an assassin that just likes to murder people I guess" as lucca said, completely skipping any backstory, and it woulda amounted to just as interesting of a character. so my point is that all the backstory and the amount of present day plot that tied into the backstory felt like it was tryna get you invested in the character but in the end there wasn't any payoff; dex just turned out as a by-the-numbers psycho. the only time that i felt they were doing something genuinely interesting with his character was when we were seeing him pullin back from the psychopathy by gettin on good terms with julie, but that ended really quickly. "he was a great character but his testimony forms the backbone of like the entire last episode." obviously, again from a plot cause-and-effect point of view, but that doesnt make up for the absence of his character in the last episode or the lack of closure for one of the most compelling arcs in the season. i think the season failed to acknowledge and capitalise on the meaning in his death by adding a bit of reflection on it into the last episode; just feels like he kinda gets swept under the rug.
artiswar 10.24.18	He's nowhere near as interesting as Fisk but I really liked him as a villain. He was definitely more fleshed out than psychopathic characters like that tend to be. Also really liked him wearing the Daredevil suit this season, he was super menacing in it.
