Friday the 13th: Scary (Good) White Metal

Have to do a list on Friday the 13th. And what is scarier than Christian (White) Metal. Its often quite terrible and a cheap imitation of the real thing. Although most in my family consider me the Black Sheep (especially as I live in the Southern United States)...they would be surprised to know that I do not discriminate between Christian Metal and secular metal. I may "prefer" my metal secular (as well as unedited, thank you Wal Mart), but I recognize good metal when it comes around. This list is "devoted" to my favorite 13 Christian Metal bands.

Suspension of Disbelief

Also Argyle Park...but not as good. The songs that Klayton (of Celldweller and Circle of Dust) are on are awesome. And some good guest vocals. The remainder of the songs are good to OK.
12Argyle Park
Misguided

A true mish-mash of an industrial metal album. But it has some great tracks. Also has great guest vocals from Stavesacre, Klank, and...Prong?
11Chatterbox
Despite

One of the Stavesacre band members formed an industrial metal band...and its pretty good!
10Blindside
Blindside

This album was on one of my recent nu-metal lists. A solid album from a Swedish White Metal band, combining influences from Korn, Deftones, and the like.
9Red (USA)
Innocence and Instinct

I am a late comer to this band. But I dig the strings and somewhat progressive leanings, although there is also a lot of Breaking Benjamin (and mainstream) in this band.
8The Letter Black
Rebuild

A great female-led metal band, where you can truly feel the pain that the lead singer has felt.
7Project 86
Drawing Black Lines

A hard-hitting nu-metal album, with a good mix of clean and harsh vocals.
6Klank
Still Suffering

The Christian White Zombie. It was hard to believe this was White Metal, but it rocked hard. Great production by Klayton.
5Flyleaf
Flyleaf

Incredible album...some of these songs (e.g., Cassie) still send chills down my spine.
4Circle of Dust
Brainchild

Gives new meaning to putting the "Ministry" into Industrial Metal
3Lacey Sturm
Life Screams

This is not only a great album, it is a spectacular album. As good as Flyleaf was, and I dug some Flyleaf, this album hits harder, is more honest, and holds no punches.
2P.O.D.
The Awakening

Love some P.O.D. Love the mix of metal, rap, hip hop, and punk (in later releases). And Sonny can actually rap, unlike a lot of rap metal acts. Lots of great albums, but this may be their most "White" album.
1Stavesacre
Absolutes

I had found Stavesacre on a Tooth and Nail sampler, I recall, and bought the album (while begrudgingly dragged to a Christian book/CD store by my holier than thou cousin). Surprise, the album rocked and even sounded a bit like Tool...Excellent! When I was younger, I found myself with friends at a Baptist Student Union (BSU). Decided I would play this album (not even that loudly) on a stereo in the basement of the BSU. After a minute of playing this album, the BSU resident turd came down and promptly turned this off (right in front of me). I realized then that I did not belong there and never returned.
