Middle of the Pack! 2nd Tier Hard Rock and Metal
The term "2nd tier" sounds derogatory, but this is not the case. "Tier" is more of a grouping. These 2nd tier bands aren't necessarily mainstream hard rock (my Tier 3), but they are also not as heavy as it gets for me personally (my Tier 1). My favorite Tier 1 and 3 bands were identified on prior lists. The following are my top 25 Tier 2 bands, positioned somewhere in-between the mainstream and the extreme. My favorite album by each band is provided. Of course, as we all know, "extreme" is a relative (and truly unlimited) term in metal. Sorry, no death or black metal on this list. |
