Love it or Hate it: Mainstream Rock and Metal

As previously noted in another list, I generally think of my favorite metal bands in three tiers. This list focuses on Tier 3, which consists of those band that fall under (or may be construed as) mainstream rock or metal. Obviously these lines are blurred, and some may not consider these bands mainstream. But this is my conceptualization, so here goes.
15Royal Blood
Royal Blood
14Future Leaders of the World
LVL IV

Vocals sound like Kurt Cobain. Check. Employs rap metal in select songs. Also check. But there is something I dig about this album...
13Like A Storm
Awaken the Fire

This album is an awesome listen, which likely has a lot to do with the frequent use of the didgeridoo... (similar to Incubus, S.C.I.E.N.C.E.)
12Art of Anarchy
Art of Anarchy

While Scott Weiland was taunting his solo album with the Wildabouts (Blaster, which was "stock" fare), this album rocked hard and did not get the attention it should have.
11Dust For Life
Dust For Life

A bit derivative of AIC (same as Godsmack), but dig them anyways
10Sixx:A.M.
This Is Gonna Hurt
9Godsmack
IV

Of all the various Godsmack albums, this is my favorite and keeps me coming back.
8Velvet Revolver
Contraband

A great album including Scott Weiland. When he harkened back to his "Core" and "Purple" vocal styles, great things happened.
7Alter Bridge
Fortress

All I can say about this album is "wow". It is an incredible piece of work.
6Red Sun Rising
Polyester Zeal

A mainstream band that knows how to properly accentuate the grey, between the light and dark.
5Avenged Sevenfold
Hail to the King

Some may not consider A7X mainstream, but this album was. A great tribute to formative bands including GNR, iron maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC, and the like.
4Shinedown
The Sound of Madness

Of all of their albums, I keep coming back to this one.
3Disturbed
Immortalized

Disturbed came back with a vengeance on this one.
2Slash
Slash

So many great songs and vocalists on this album, but my favorite track is Nothing to Say with M. Shadows of A7X.
1Foo Fighters
Wasting Light

There is no better Foo Fighters album than this, in my opinion.
