| Best Southern-Tinged Heavy Rock/Metal Bands
Being born and raised within the southern United States, I have a "soft spot" for some excellent, southern-tinged Heavy Rock and Metal bands. This list includes my favorite 25, along with what i believe to be either their best or their most southern-tinged album. Note that this list includes bands solely from below the mason dixon line, excluding those from Florida. There are many great metal bands from Florida, which will end up someday in another list. This list also does not contain any classic southern rock....sorry folks. Also, as great as Zakk Wylde's Pride and Glory is, it was not formed in the south (to my understanding) and thus not included herein. | 25 | | Rebel Meets Rebel Rebel Meets Rebel

06.06.18 | List needs Acid Bath, well actually it needs a significant overhaul but that's a good start. | Mentasm
06.06.18 | Duane Allman rolling over in his grave. This is why the south will never rise again. Terrible people with terrible tastes. | JDubb
06.06.18 | Thank you teamster for the rec on Bask. Took a listen and both of their albums are awesome! Almost a mix between Baroness and Pelican/Russian Circles. | robotmagician
06.06.18 | if you like “excellent” southern tinged music why are most of these on your list | JDubb
06.06.18 | Thank you OwMySnauze, Demon of the Fall, and RippingCorpse1986 for the recs. Really dug "Maylene and the Sons of Disaster" and what I could find of "Acid Bath". Unfortunately, TDWP is not my "cup of tea". | JDubb
06.06.18 | And to those "expecting better", better luck next list. The only change I would make to MY list is working in the band MonstrO, which I forgot about. No overhaul necessary nor will be done. I look forward to seeing YOUR OWN lists with "better southern metal", whatever that may include. Also, Mentasm: congratulations, you and my wife agree that I have "terrible tastes". You two can go listen to Josh Groban and John Mayer together. | DominionMM1
06.06.18 | also neither kentucky, kansas, nor missouri are the south
oh, and check rwake | ultrainstinctgranny
06.07.18 | He Is Legend | butcherboy
06.07.18 | just listen to good rock and eat cajun food for the tinge.. | Mentasm
06.07.18 | I would love to listen to John Mayer together with your wife, you know, with candles on, A bottle of wine and 'Your Body is Wonderland' playing in the background. | BigHans
06.07.18 | Killer list, I thought I was the only one who even knew Paw existed. | JDubb
06.07.18 | Mentasm, touche. Will take a listen to Rwake and He is Legend. Paw is a hidden gem in the grunge years. | RippingCorpse1986
06.07.18 | Didn't recommend TDWP, only made my comment due to the ''Texas isn't the south'' post lol.
Nonetheless, I'll always have a soft spot for that band. |
