Top 10 Soundtracks

Soundtracks used to be a cause to celebrate. Nowadays, if a soundtrack is released (and assuming it is not a score), you may have one (hopefully two) decent tracks from your favorite bands, mixed in with lots of filler and throw aways. This was not always the case. This list highlights those soundtracks that were spectacular as a whole, included great (and/or unreleased) tracks by not one but multiple great bands, and added significantly to the feel of the movie itself.
10 Various Artists
Resident Evil Apocalypse

Great tracks by Slipknot, Lacuna Coil, Devil Driver, Deftones, and HIM. Also included great remixes by APC, Killswitch Engage, and Rob Zombie.

Queen Of The Damned Soundtrack

Helmed by J.D. of Korn, this album included some great tracks by Earshot, Godhead, and Kidneythieves, along with well-known tracks by Deftones, Disturbed, and Static X. But the best was the five songs written by J.D. himself, but sung by the likes of Wayne Static, David Draiman, Chester Bennington, MM, and Jay Gordon.
8 Various Artists
Judgement Night Soundtrack

This soundtrack was groundbreaking for 1993. Great collaborative tracks from Helmet/House of Pain, Biohazard/Onyx, Cypress Hill/PJ, and Cypress Hill/Sonic Youth. The most stellar track, however, was "Another Body Murdered" by FNM and Boo-Yaa Tribe.
7 Various Artists
Escape from L.A. Soundtrack

Although not all unreleased songs, this soundtrack included great tracks by White Zombie, Tool, Deftones, and Stabbing Westward. But my favorite tracks on this soundtrack were CIV (Et Tu Brute?), Orange 9mm (Fire in the Hole), and Sugar Ray (10 Seconds Down).
6 Various Artists
Resident Evil Soundtrack

Great remixes of songs by Slipknot, MM, FF, Ill Nino, and Mudvayne. Also, a great score developed by MM.
5 Various Artists
Underworld Soundtrack

Great tracks and remixes by The Damning Well, APC, and Puscifer. Lots of other superb tracks by Helmet and others thrown in to boot.
4 Various Artists
The Crow: City of Angels

This was the first time that I ever heard Korn (Sean Olson) and Deftones (Teething), and I was hooked into both of these bands since. Also had great tracks by White Zombie, Filter, Toadies, and Hole.
3 Various Artists
Spawn: The Album

Great collaborative tracks from The Crystal Method/Filter, Korn/The Dust Brothers, The Prodigy/Tom Morello, Incubus/DJ Greyboy, Silverchair/Vitro, and Orbital/Kirk Hammett. Also, the track by Slayer/Atari Teenage Riot destroys.
2 Various Artists
Singles Soundtrack

A great sampler of grunge artists at the time, with a few alternative bands thrown in to boot. Features two of my favorite songs from AIC (Would?) and Soundgarden (Birth Ritual), as well as Chris Cornell's first solo song (Seasons) and two previously-unreleased PJ classics.
1 Various Artists
The Crow Soundtrack

This is my favorite soundtrack (and one of my favorite movies) of all time!. This soundtrack is timeless and includes previously-unheard tracks from early 90 greats including NIN, The Cure, STP, Helmet, Pantera, and RATM. This soundtrack all flows together so well, in gothic fashion.
