A gorgeous mix of synths and tangling acoustic guitar. And the melody is a damn classic.

The songwriting is definitely not something to write (pun totally intended) home about and the decision to make the intro and outro so vastly different from the middle was much more confusing than inspiring in any way. The pacing is pretty off, too, which was surprising considering the song's format. 2.7/5

Kompys2000 02.07.18	Sorry I'm really slacking on this list lol Cinders- 3.7, pretty cool but seems a bit cheesy, the piano is indeed very nice Lola- 3.9, I really dig the flamenco guitar and the vocals are great too, but the buzzy synths feel a tad out of place and the whole thing ends very abruptly. Still p good tho Deliver me- 3.9 vibes hard Money Comes, Money Goes- 3.5, I'm kinda with bgill on this one. Perfectly enjoyable stuff, but nothing about this is all that interesting or inspired.

neekafat 02.12.18	Thought Industry - Daterape Cookbook: 4.1 Super fun and all over the place song, definitely something I could see myself getting into more even though it’s not something I’d usually listen to. Jeff Buckley - I Woke Up in a Strange Place: 3.8 I mean, I’m a pretty big Buckley fan so this was an easy win for me. It’s not anything particularly outstanding, especially compared to his other stuff, but it’s just great to hear stuff from him I haven’t heard before and this definitely doesn’t disappoint. Wildhart - Shine: 4.2 Man, this was just breathtaking and totally justified it’s length. I just couldn’t get enough of it while it was running and if the whole album is half this good I’m sure in for a treat. Car Seat Headrest - Vincent: 4.2 This was a push-pull of attracting me but in the end I can’t help but fall for these drawn-out, constantly shifting, blissfully atmospheric rock songs you guys keep throwing at me. Honestly, it’s just great. Might have to check these guys out too sometime.

Perhaps it could've been performed better, particularly in the percussion area, but that doesn't change the fact that it's really damn good. 4.2/5 Jeff Buckley - "I Woke Up in a Strange Place": I'll give the slightly boring production a pass since it is a live track, but the song as a whole drags quite a bit. Buckley himself is easily the best part with his vocal work. 3.6/5 Wildhart - "Shine": I like the song well enough, but all I see with this is missed potential. All of the performers are great, but they take over half of the track to do anything of note. If the vocal range was shown off earlier and if the jazz-flavored ending had more foreshadowing in the first half of the track, this would be so much more. 3.4/5 Car Seat Headrest - "Vincent": The vast amount of subtle genre influences surprised me here in a spectacular way. Jazz, ska punk, and 90's alt rock come together into one awesome package. While the vocalist is impressive, I would've liked a verse in the beginning of the track to show a bit of a calmer side to him. I need to get into this album btw. 4.1/5 Pure Reason Revolution - "Victorious Cupid": It's not conventional progressive rock, so there's at least that much, but its direction is way too stilted for my taste. The vocals are quite dreadful, but only in the context of the instrumentation, which by itself is decent enough. The problem is that the two don't really mix well at all to me. 3.0/5 David Bowie - "Sweet Thing": "It's Bowie. C'mon." [2] 4.2/5 Minnie Riperton - "Les Fleurs": Cute, but not too much past that. 3.6/5 Shiina Ringo - "Meisai": It's ever so slightly better than the last track from 50iL. The violin and bass presence in here is quite the treat, even if not necessarily "pleasant" on the former instrument. 3.9/5 The Gromble - "Don't Stand a Chance": Completely disjointed at worst and mesmerizing at best. It goes from 21 Pilots to Radiohead (Brought to you by Ars) in a jarring amount of time and it doesn't help that the vocals are only average at both halves. The production is solid, though, and the "Radiohead" part is fun in a cheesy way. 3.3/5 Fear Before - "Take Cassandra to the End of the World Party" (self-rate): It's not the best track on the album by far, but I wanted to give you guys the most digestable introduction to the album. 3.5/5 (again, don't put this into the database)

And of all cuts on the album, the title track has been a particularly grim, but instrumentally rich endeavour with manic drums, ominous guitarwork, despair-ridden vocals and haunting atmosphere. But it isn't the most complex work the band has done, which still doesn't take away from its goodness. Lanterns as an album is a full immersive experience, of which this song is a vital part.
