DarkSideOfLucca 11.17.17	Daredevil season 1 and part of season 2 were great (all the Punisher stuff was ace). First half of Luke Cage rules, and parts of Jessica Jones are great. Iron Fist actually made me legitimately mad that I wasted so many hours of my life on that fucking garbage and outside of like maybe one episode The Defenders left me feeling the same way. This is by far the best thing they have done imo (though like I said, Daredevil season 1 was also pretty perfect)

DarkSideOfLucca 11.19.17	OK, maybe some spoilers ahead - - - - 1) They made Micro an interesting character for the first time ever, which I never thought would happen 2) The brutality of The Punisher is REALLY there 3) yeah, punisher is a tortured character but this is still the beginning of his journey, as Bernthal has said in many interviews - it's before Russo becomes Jigsaw, it's still focused on the family storyline, him and Micro are just meeting and figuring shit out, etc 4) Tbh I found all of the PTSD stuff pretty interesting - seeing him fight in war in ep 3 like he did in Born was fucking awesome and I liked how every character dealt with their PTSD differently (especially in later episodes) 5) Making him and Russo friends and partners in war is a WAY better backstory then him just being some assassin 6) Last 3 episodes are fucking ACE, nailbiting shit
DrGonzo1937 11.19.17	At the end of the day, they fucked his character up from the get go by having this CIA conspiracy angle in place. All they had to do was use the source material; there's so many great antagonists they could have used and instead we get a bald dude with one eye. I've been a huge fan of the Punisher for a lot of years and every time they fuck him up. The only thing I thought was done well was the micro Punisher dynamic, everything else was fucked. At its core it should technically be a run and gun show with black comedy underneath. I don't want it to try and be deep and go into the PTSD shit of characters I couldn't care less about, or frank having a glass of wine with micros wife. It's just pure padding.

DarkSideOfLucca 11.19.17	Also there have been iterations of the comics where the slaughter at the park was a calculated event meant to look random so it's really not as out of the blue as youre making it out to be imo Also I love Garth Ennis run as well, and they are incorporating some of that as well but I like that this is its own thing. I also like that they are making me give a shit about characters I didn't care about before.

Rowan5215 11.20.17	I like foggy as a comic relief, and the flashback thing somewhere in s1 where they were drunkenly walking thru college was literally like the only moment in any of these shows that feels like it was written by a human being tbh karen is very pretty and she's good as a foil to matt (their romantic shit was awful). karen/punisher was literally the only non-sewage in the second half of DD2 all these characters will be ruined by scott buck if defenders is any indication so idk why i care
Lord(e)Po)))ts 11.20.17	word, i wish i could find him comedic haha anyways hot take: luke cage was bad enough to stop watching halfway through but wasnt completely without merit i suppose iron fist was bad enough that it was actually hilarious and i ended up watching it up til the season finale and then i lost interest and never finished it lmao defenders also wasnt bad enough to be funny and two episodes deep felt torturous already inhumans was even worse than iron fist, i watched the whole thing and have no regrets that shit was gold.
Rowan5215 11.20.17	cottonmouth's probably my favourite villain they've had so far, shame pretty much everything else about luke cage was trash. him crushing people to Bring Da Ruckus was a good moment I guess defenders took two characters i kinda like and made them boring underwritten fucking trash, it also took luke cage and danny and made them boring underwritten fucking trash but i didn't mind that as much. the ep where they were all in the restaurant arguing was close to passable until stick showed up I haven't watched inhumans and I never will, because agents of SHIELD is fucking amazing and I don't want to taint it with the sewer water that all the other shows are now. that show deserves a better universe tbh

Rowan5215 11.20.17	ye like I get that killing the villains halfway through is their thing but it stops being surprising once you do it for like four seasons in a row, and they just fuckin waste Mahershala Ali and Sigourney Weaver on a cheap surprise it's like fuck off. and the second villain in Luke Cage is actually one of the worst I've ever seen SHIELD season four is legitimately phenomenal, I wasn't on board until then but it took off into the stratosphere. the ep named 'Self Control' is one of my favourite eps of anything this year unironically

Even though his decisions were wrong after the war, they were understandable and makes him a justifiable villain. He's gonna suck Frank back into that dark world and there will be no turning back.

DarkSideOfLucca 11.21.17	Agreed, DD s2 introduces the character, provides the Karen + Castle backstory, how people know who The Punisher is, and lets you know why he was in presumed dead/what he was doing at the beginning of the season. You can assume the rest without it, but I'd say it's pretty essential. And same man, every day is a struggle but they didn't announce a second season for some of the other series until weeks later so I'm trying not to think about it for now. Netflix needs to start releasing these series more consistently though before I go insane - don't know if I want to wait like 2 years for a second season.
ExhaleTheLight 11.21.17	I only think Netflix did that because originally each character was going to have their show and then the miniseries. They didn't plan on DD season 2 but the reaction was overwhelmingly positive so they started production pretty late, and plus they wanted to time it in gaps between other shows. JJ and LC have season 2 next year so its not too bad, but since this show is good without other tie ins, then I'm sure we wouldn't have to wait 2 years.
