The Machine That Made Us Ranked
Just because I'm in love with this album and want more people to hear it :) |
| 10 | Flotation Toy Warning To Live For Longer Slides
There isn't a song I don't adore on this thing, but "To Live...." is admittedly the weakest of the bunch. But even still there are moments, such as the loveable pre-chorus, that stand out. 4/5 |
| 9 | King of Foxgloves
The chorus on this one is one of my favourites on the whole album but everything else kinda just floats by. 4/5 |
| 8 | Driving Under The Influence of Lonlieness
I need more of this tune! But it is an album song and an interlude so it doesn't leave the biggest mark when all is said and done. 4/5 |
| 7 | When The Boat Comes Inside The House
This has such a carefree, happy melody. I can't help but smile like a dummy when I hear it. 4.5/5 |
| 6 | Due To Adverse Weather Conditions, All Of My Heroes Have Surrenderd
Adore the vintage horn in this song. Just another beautifully warm song that's such a pleasure to wake up to. 4.5/5 |
| 5 | Everything That Is Difficult Will Come To An End
That beginning melody is just heart-wrenching. The latter half of the song does drag on a little too long but what's here is so good that's hardly a serious complaint. 4.5/5 |
| 4 | The Moongoose Analogue
Somehow, despite its overly repetitive nature, I could listen to this on repeat for hours. Everything just works so, so well and it closes the album beautifully. 5/5 |
| 3 | Controlling The Sea
From the moment the vocals came through I was hooked. By the first chorus, I was in love. 5/5 |
| 2 | A Season Underground
Quite possibly the most musically mesmerizing track here. The strings are gorgeous and the heavenly backing choir propels this song into classic status. 5/5 |
| 1 | I Quite Like It When He Sings
The centrepiece of this staggering record is seven and a half minutes of blissful perfection. Nothing more. 5/5 |
